Del. David Englin (D), who represents part of Arlington in the Virginia House of Delegates, released a statement today about the proposed elimination of the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Englin called the Republican-backed measure a “shortsighted, high-risk scheme.”

RESISTING ARREST-ARREST 02/18/10, 2200 block of S. Kenmore Street. On February 18 at 1:45 am when an officer attempted to arrest a man for an outstanding warrant, the suspect fought the officer and fled the area on foot. The suspect was apprehended and found to be in possession of narcotics. John Hart, 46, of Arlington, was charged with Resisting Arrest and Possession of Narcotics. He was held without bond.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 02/18/10, 4100 block of S. Walter Reed Drive. On February 18 at 5 pm, a man assaulted another man after a road rage incident. Pablo Lopez, 38, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and Battery. He was released on a summons.


Events

The City of Falls Church and the Washington Area Music Association are hosting the 24th annual WAMMIE awards at the State Theater (220 N. Washington St., Falls Church) this coming Sunday. In addition to the main event, Falls Church is holding a number of “meet and greet” pre-parties at local eateries.

The pre-parties run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
