Crime Report: Angry Drunks Edition

If you’re drunk and next to a police station, and you assault a police officer, it’s not going to end very well for you. If you’re drunk and being thrown out of a bar, and you bite a security guard, well, that’s probably not going to end well for most people, except this one guy who had a getaway car at the ready.

ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 04/18/10, 2000 block of N. 15th Street. On April 18 at 4:30 am, an officer was assaulted by an intoxicated female. Ellen ******, 26, of Silver Spring, MD, was charged with Assault on Law Enforcement and Drunk in Public. She was held on a $5,000 bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING 04/18/10, 2600 block of Columbia Pike. On April 18 at 9:30 pm, an intoxicated subject bit a security guard as he was being escorted from a bar. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his late 20’s, 5’9″ and 200 lbs. He was wearing all black clothing.

ROBBERY 04/14/10, 5000 block of Wilson Boulevard. On April 14 at 8 am, an unknown man approached a gas station clerk and displayed a handgun. He demanded money, and then fled on foot. The suspect is described as an African American male, 5’10” and 200 lbs. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket and dark jeans.

ROBBERY-ARREST 04/17/10, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive. On April 17 at 10:45 pm, police located several suspects in a robbery that had just occurred. Two juvenile males were detained and charged. Cartez Dooley, 18, of Woodbridge, was charged with Robbery. He was held without bond.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY 04/19/10, 900 block of Army Navy Drive. On April 19 at 10 pm, a man reported that a subject known to him had assaulted him with pepper spray. He did not need medical attention.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 04/21/10, 900 block of N. Stuart Street. On April 21 at 12:30 am, an intoxicated male assaulted a bus driver. Wendell Stewart, 50, of Washington D.C., was charged with Assault and Battery and Drunk in Public. He was held on a $2,500 bond.

BURGLARY 04/18/10, 900 block of N. Frederick Street. Between 7 pm on April 16, and 8 am on April 18, an unknown subject forcibly entered a house. There are no known suspects.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 04/19/10, 4300 block of N. Pershing Drive. Between 4 pm on April 17, and 7 pm on April 19, an unknown subject cut into a screen door of an apartment. There are no known suspects.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 04/14/10, 1700 block of N. Moore Street. Between 6:30 pm on April 13 and 8:30 am on April 14, an unknown subject broke into a business suite and stole several laptop computers. There is no suspect description.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 04/20/10, 3300 block of Lee Highway. Between 10:45 pm on April 19, and 6:30 am on April 20, an unknown subject broke into a business and stole the cash drawer. There is no suspect description.

ATTEMPTED COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 04/20/10, 2900 block of Wilson Boulevard. On April 19 at 11:30 pm, police responded to an alarm at a business and found the door unlocked. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/14/10, 4700-4800 blocks of Chesterfield Road. On April 14 between 8 pm and 10 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in the same area and stole various items. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/14/10, 4200 block of Four Mile Run Drive. On April 14 between 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in the same block and stole various items. There are no known suspects.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/15/10, 2700 block of S. Glebe Road. On April 15 between midnight and 5:30 am, a group of unknown subjects broke into at least eight vehicles in a parking garage and the surrounding area. The suspects stole various items. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO-ARREST 04/18/10, 1600 block of N. George Mason Drive. On April 18 at 4 pm, a man was seen stealing from a vehicle. He was later apprehended by police. Robert Fleming, 46, of Arlington, was charged with Felony Petit Larceny and held on a $3,000 bond.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/16/10, 2600 block of Crystal Drive. Between 8:30 pm on April 14, and 1 pm on April 16, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in a parking garage. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/18/10, 4800 block of S. 29th Street. Between 11 pm on April 17, and noon on April 18, an unknown subject entered at least five vehicles in the same neighborhood. A GPS was stolen from one car. There are no known suspects.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/19/10, 1900 block of Fort Myer Drive. Between 8:30 pm on April 17, and 8:45 am on April 19, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles in a parking garage. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/20/10, 3900 block of Wilson Boulevard. On April 20, between 9 pm and 10:15 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in a parking lot and stole various items. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/21/10, 800 block of N. Greenbrier Street. On April 20 between 8:30 pm and 10 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles and stole two GPS units. There are no known suspects.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 04/21/10, 600 block of N. Piedmont Street. Between 8 pm on April 20, and 6:30 am on April 21, an unknown subject broke into at least three vehicles in the same block. Items were stolen from two of the vehicles. There is no suspect description.

The STEAM Workforce Development Teacher Fellowship provides Arlington Public Schools (APS) high school, middle school, and elementary school teachers with opportunities to learn about workplace needs in STEAM-related fields and for them to use the experience to enhance student learning to match workplace expectations in a selected industry. STEAM Fellows participate in a three-week summer fellowship, receiving a $4,000 stipend upon completion.

Applicants planning to pursue a fellowship in the arts must demonstrate how they will build connections between the arts and science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
