Owner Osiris Hoil says the fast food-style restaurant will be casual and family-oriented, with a front counter and plenty of tables. Since the storefront already has a full kitchen and other restaurant necessities, Hoil hopes to open the place as soon as September 1. (Update on 10/14: The opening is now said to be set for the first week in November.)
The larger kitchen will supply the District Taco stand with greater quantities of fresher ingredients, Hoil said. The stand has been a victim of it’s own success recently, running out of food just about every day.

Officials at Reagan National Airport are “anticipating major delays and cancellations” as a result of a power outage affecting Terminals B and C.
The outage is affecting ticket counters and concessions, airport spokesperson Courtney Mickalonis said. Power has been restored at TSA security screening stations.

All in all it was a relatively quiet week for the Arlington Police Department. As if to illustrate the point, here’s one particularly small town-ish item that made it onto the weekly crime report.
BURGLARY 07/13/10, 1800 block of N. Culpeper Street. Between midnight on July 1, and 8 am on July 13, an unknown person entered a closed porch and moved items. There are no known suspects.

Slapsticon Returns — Slapsticon, the vintage comedy film festival, is returning to Arlington with a full slate of films from the silent and early sound eras. The four-day festival, held at the Rosslyn Spectrum Theater, kicks off at 1:00 this afternoon. The highlight of the festival will come on Saturday, when The Thief Catcher, a lost Charlie Chaplin film that was recently found at an antiques sale in Michigan, re-premieres on the big screen.
