Republican Mark Kelly won three Arlington precincts, out of 51, in his race against incumbent county board member Chris Zimmerman.
Election officials called police when a Republican precinct captain became unruly outside Patrick Henry Elementary School in Arlington Heights this afternoon.
The man, a local resident named John Moroz, Jr., said he was passing out voting guides outside the school — as he has done every year since 1998 — when a voter directed profane language at him for being a Republican.

“The numbers we’re getting back show a higher than 2009 turnout, which gives us room for optimism,” said Mike Lieberman, chairman of the Arlington County Democratic Committee. He emphasized that county Democrats are “cautiously” optimistic.
“Given how strange this year is we’re not taking anything for granted until we see the actual numbers come in,” he said.
A three-vehicle accident has been reported in the lefthand lanes of westbound Route 50 near the exit to Rosslyn-Key Bridge.
The fire department is on the scene and reporting that one of the vehicles is on fire.

The ten-term Democratic congressman was shaking hands with voters as they went to the polls, asking for their support. It was one of the final few stops in his campaign to win an eleventh term.
Moran, who voted in Shirlington, had visited the Lyon Village, Lyon Park, Gunston, Woodlawn, Washington-Lee and Jefferson precincts in Arlington earlier in the day. He was planning to keep going in Mt. Vernon and southeast Fairfax County until polls closed at 7:00 p.m.
Several lanes of North Glebe Road have been shut down at 14th Street, near the ramp to eastbound I-66, due to a gas leak.
The road is expected to reopen within three hours, we’re told.
Paramedics are heading to the Best Buy in Pentagon City after police used a Taser on a disorderly suspect.
The suspect was not reported to be injured — it’s standard procedure for medics to evaluate anyone who has been Tasered by an officer.
The Crystal City 1K Wine Walk will be a one kilometer “race” through Crystal City’s interior walkways (the “underground”). Wine and food sampling stations will be set up along the way.
At the end, there will be a “finish festival” in the former underground food court.
The Sun Gazette reports that the county expects to release a public statement after the meeting.

But apparently nobody told local burrito chain California Tortilla. The company, which has a store in Courthouse, is offering a free taco to anyone who shows up with an “I Voted” sticker.
