Cava is still coming to Clarendon.

It was July when we first learned that the upscale Greek eatery would be opening up in a 4,000 square foot space on Clarendon Boulevard. Despite questions about whether the restaurant might have scrapped its plans, we’re hearing that owner Ted Xenohristos is still very much moving forward with the Clarendon Cava.

According to a tipster, Xenohristos is telling people that the restaurant is 4-5 months away from opening. A banner will soon be posted outside the boarded-up storefront, and Facebook and Twitter announcements will soon follow, we’re told.

Cava currently has two locations: Rockville and Capitol Hill.

Phew! I was getting worried, there has been absolutely no activity at the storefront in Station Square and was wondering what the verdict was.

Hope this all works out, looking forward to a Spring opening!

I forget, does the Cava space include use of the patio/courtyard in the rear of the space ?

Pretty sure it does, but only the lower section of the courtyard. The area where the fountain and grill is belongs to residents/Station Square I believe.

Good news. I wonder if they will be able to use the under-utilized courtyard at Station Square as planned when the building was first designed…
