“National Pancake Day” at IHOP

IHOP restaurants nationwide are celebrating “National Pancake Day” by giving away free short stacks of pancakes in exchange for charitable donations.

Like last year, when the chain raised $76,000, IHOP is collecting money on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Local IHOPs participating in the promotion include the Ballston location at 935 North Stafford Street and the Potomac Yard location at 3425 Jefferson Davis Highway.

    What a great idea!

By the way, let’s preserve the classic Ballston IHOP. We’ve got plenty of initiatives to support affordable housing, how about affordable eating?

I’ve got a soft spot for IHOPs countrywide but, in multiple visits over a few years, I’ve found the Ballston staff exceptionally frustrating. I’ve had to hunt someone down to take my order, to get coffee, to pay my bill, etc. Waiting, waiting, waiting, still no service at all. One time I finally started towards the door as a last ditch attempt to get anyone’s attention to let me close out my bill. IHOP Ballston, where the customers are waiters too.

The IHOP is one of the ugliest buildings in Ballston (and there are many contenders.) It has the same shocking blue color scheme as the Marymount building — another contender.

I’l be very happy to see this truck stop looking eye score torn down.

I can’t fathom eating at, let alone walking into a place as dirty as that IHOP. The last time I was in there, the paint, from the last time they redid the place was peeling and what was underneath the peeling paint wasn’t much dirtier than the peeling paint.

I would sooner eat off the ground in front of the pumps at a truckstop and then kiss the truckstop waitress on the mouth.

  • Lou:

    Love the IHOP.
