Larry’s Homemade Ice Cream Now Open in Clarendon

Larry’s Homemade Ice Cream (3018 Wilson Boulevard) opened in Clarendon over the weekend.

The store offers a wide variety of ice cream flavors, as well as sundaes, milkshakes, frozen yogurt, fruit smoothies, baked goods and espresso drinks.

Larry’s is located next to BGR: The Burger Joint, on the ground floor of the Clarendon Center project’s north building. Starting next week, the store will be open from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, an employee said.

Larry’s operates an existing location at 2450 Crystal Drive, in Crystal City. More photos, after the jump.

That beats the pants off the aforementioned Larry’s in the CC Underground.

The cashier in the underground could not fulfill my request for a chai latte? FREDTERP

Woo hoo from a super premium ice cream snob! I can’t wait to try this out and I’ll deliver a yelp review first chance I get. I was very disappointed at the ice cream shop in Westover–forgot the name. I totally miss Lazy Sundays (sundaes) that went under a few year ago. Their scoops were huge and it was qualify ice cream.

  • Evil Matcher:

I’m more excited by the fact that they sell over-the-counter breakfast sandwiches than overpriced ice cream.

I live one block away and didn’t even know! So I guess they must not have had much of a “grand” opening. Anyhow, I’m excited to check it out. It will be nice to have a place serving real ice cream – not gelato, fro yo, fro-zen-yo, yo-zen-fro, frosties, or whatever the hell Carvel sells. That said, I’m a little concerned about those long hours of operation and the fact that they’re spread out product-wise into a bunch of very crowded markets (baked goods and breakfast sandwiches), but I’d imagine that’s their plan to get them through the colder months where there’s less demand for ice cream. I wish them luck and will be visiting soon!!!

Yeah, sorry for the attempt at a productive comment actually discussing the subject matter. I forgot that the correct thing to do is just to wait for other people to discuss the subject matter and then mock them.

Their grand opening fireworks were poorly timed

I went by yesterday and the guy was sooo eager to please me that I was impressed. The question is, how long will he be that eager? I’m excited because now I have a new place to grab coffee and breakfast before work!

@Vdizzle- there’s always money in the banana stand!

Looks interesting. I’ll give it a shot, but I really like Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream in Westover. Whenever they scoop the stuff that’s made on the premises, it’s FANTASTIC!!!

I dropped by this weekend and the service was fantastic. I even got a free cookie. I’m an adult and got the “kiddie” size scoop and it was enough for me and a generous serving. The owner was cordial and hopeful about his new business. I’ll definitely go back. Oh, almost forgot, the most important thing of all: the ice cream was fantastic. Got the dark, dark chocolate flavor (can’t remember the name).

  • FailedAgain:

Larry’s is over priced! 3.47 for a kiddie size and 4.99 for two scoops. Yikes! Highway robbery! The scoops are small and it’s not that good. Larry’s ice cream is owned by the same people as Larry’s cookies, granted it’s a franchise. But Larry is big headed mofo if he thinks both his cookies and ice cream are worth that much! Yikes!

      Rosslyn Boom:

It is not owned by Larry’s cookies, I stopped in Tuesday for Ice Cream and had asked the same thing, so it is def not a franchise. The owner was real cool, the quality was awesome, the ice cream is worth the price, it’s Clarendon, rent is high, you might need to head out to Chantilly, you might be able to find your target ice cream of two scoops for two dollars.

  • Pestle:

10AM on Friday morning, my coworkers just walked over for bagels and it’s dark and locked up with no hours posted yet. Guess the “grand opening” was a false start.

  • Richie:

Larry’s is way over priced even for the Clarendon market. I live across the street and love me a good ice cream. I will go to Red Mango before I go back to Larry’s!!

  • GS20:

I stopped in last week for a breakfast bakery item. I was told the bakery would be up and running yesterday (Monday).

I went back this morning for a bakery item and was told the bakery would be up and running on Monday!

I’ll give them one more chance next week. If they’re not fully operational then, I won’t go back.
