Truck Knocks Down Power Lines on S. Frederick Street

South Frederick Street has been shut down between Columbia Pike and 10th Street S. after a truck knocked down a utility pole and became entangled in power lines.

A garbage truck reportedly knocked down the pole just after 3:00 p.m. today. The road will be closed for awhile to allow crews time to clean up the broken pole and a tangle of wires.

  • Grammar Anyone?:

I’m sure it’s just a typo, but the subject and verb in the headline don’t agree.

Could this be why my ART 75 bus never got to Ballston around 5:15 this afternoon??? I had to walk a few blocks and take the ART 41 home.

This accident caused a Verizon outage in the area. My phone and internet have been down since the accident. Arlington sent out an email saying that Verizon is working on it and Verizon’s website has no ETA on the fix. Not sure if you want to include that or not. I can forward the email if you’d like.

Verizon service (phone & DSL) is still out from this. I’m sure storms last night didn’t help the repair efforts either. Verizon says should be completed by 9pm tonite…. will not be holding my breath :-z
