Crystal City Motel Torn Down

by ARLnow.com — February 10, 2012 at 10:00 am 2,784 16 Comments

The Crystal City Motel is no more.

The deteriorating, long-vacant motor lodge off of Old Jefferson Davis Highway was torn down this week to make way for the future Boeing regional headquarters.

The next-door Clark Street Playhouse is set to be demolished next. Bisnow reports that construction on the Boeing headquarters is expected to start in April and wrap up by the fall of 2013.

Maybe if we’re lucky the Americana will soon meet the same fate…

See, now I kind of like the Americana. I used to live across from it, and I liked how their neon signage was totally unique in a drab Crystal City landscape.

There was no reason to keep it. All the prostitutes moved to the Days Inn.
