(Updated at 11:30 a.m.) Nearly 3,700 1,500 Dominion customers are without power in the northwest corner of Arlington.

The power outage is currently affecting the Yorktown, Williamsburg and East Falls Church neighborhoods. Homes, businesses, traffic lights and even Yorktown High School have lost power.

Dominion spokeswoman Le-Ha Anderson said a piece of equipment failed, causing about 1,500 customers to lose power. The company hopes to have power restored by 11:45 a.m.

Dominion avoids our corner of Arlington like the plague. In my four+ years living away from here I’ve never had power problems like I’ve had with dominion.

I live right by EFC Metro. My power flickered but thankfully came right back on. – I work from home so that could’ve sucked. Very odd though.

I live on the intersection Clarendon blvd and N Barton Street, and Dominion told hte residents that they were replacing a bad transformer by our building and that power would be out most of the day… this outage might be beacuse of that.

      Courtland Park?

      • CSEM

Yes, Courtland…power was off right about 9 this morning. Is supposed to be back up (if it is not already) by 7 this evening.

I live in the building too and we didn’t get power back until 9. :P

Sounds like Donaldson Run could be affected.

You’re assuming Donaldson Run actually has power to begin with.

I just checked and our nuclear power plant tucked into the bowels of Potomac Overlook Park is operating without incident. The lights (and a few body parts) continue to glow in Donaldson Run.

I wish the power would go out in Lyon Village.

I am checking on that as I type.
