Great…a homeless shelter. Just what I was hoping the county would buy with my tax dollars!!!

    • novasteve

But it would centralize most of the sexual assaults. The guy who assaulted a woman at whole foods could have been caught in a shelter rather than on a bench.

      • urmental

except that he wasn’t homeless..Ohand he lived in DC….but otherwise Steve……

        • novasteve

Yes, perhaps his homeless shelter was in DC. or do people with homes normally get caught sleeping on benches in arlington after sexually assaulting women in grocery stores?

          • jackson

People who are on drugs or are mentally ill might both have homes and sleep on benches.

          • novasteve

How do they pay their mortgages or rents if they are out sleeping on benches after sexually assaulting women?

          • jackson

It happened on a Sunday, right? It was his day off. (He was probably a lawyer.)

          • novasteve

Lawyers only figuratively sexually assault you, not literally like this guy.

maybe if sibert was so concerned with people living on the street she should open her house up to them

    • Not Me

      Wow and in North Aaaaahhlington!

“Since late in 2011, county officials have been attempting to gain control of the office building – first by threatening the use of eminent domain, then by negotiation.” Isn’t that sort of a backwards way of going about it?

      • Nag

NO! probably cheaper to go through ED

“Mix together your region’s hottest tech startups with a couple hundred passionate technophiles- and serve over cocktails.”

Sounds like it could get raunchy !

I checked a couple of the startups listed – none of the ones I checked seemed at all “tech”. Unless just being on the internet or doing business through the web is “tech”.

    • Ren

Yeah, it could…if only “Smokey” Atta could make it, but we ALL know he’s still in Jamaica.

Can we maybe just improve our infrastructure instead? Repair roads, build new bikelanes. Or have the police monitor our, often criminally inclined, homeless?

      +1

I used to rent on that block where I think some 1 br now go for over 2k month. So middle class folks are priced out but this is a necessary location for a shelter? I’m all for investment in the homeless. A vital public good. But homeless shelters in the most expensive corners of metro DC actually represents the county thumbing their noses at middle class denizens who often need to live miles from their workplaces and spend hours daily.
