Strange things are afoot with the Captain submitting a picture of his mortal enemy, cats.

    • http://purple.com/purple.html Captain Pup McPuppo

      LOL i know it.

but they’re my friends, they posed like this while i painted them. *howls*

      • Civ War Buff

Ahh, the infamous 22nd Kitty Zouaves … drawn from the back alleys of Vicksburg. Thanks for the fond memories, Pup. LIttle known fact that the Yankees broke the siege of Vicksburg by spreading catnip down Baldwin Ferry Rd. Gen Moore lost half his reserves this way.

        • Dave

          +1

        • Dan

          Very clever……

      • Wilfred

“His green lawn made freshly mowed. Sprinkler rainbows, dazzling in the sun. A fluffy tail swaying in the breeze. A welcoming purr. An invitation? A game? I wagged my tail, and smiled on approach. That’s when… a hiss, a scratch, so fast. Open paws smash to the face, again and again. I just wanted it to stop and all I could hear was the words of my attacker, Meow. Meow! MEOW! Well, who’s meowing now b:tches!”

… and my mortal enemy is anything that encroaches on my freedom. *puts on sunglasses, howls & darts off into the wilderness*

  • novasteve

Wow, I have a feeling some of our readers will go insane seeing those confederate battle flags.

    • South Side Chris

FALSE! It’s either the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia, the Battle Flag of the Army of Tennessee or the second Confederate Naval Jack depending on dimensions and year portrayed.

    • moderately sane

sorry, steve. flags or no flags, we just won’t be able to keep up, bud.

  • NoVapologist

    Worst Morning Notes pic ever.

    • novasteve

I see we have our first wolf attack victim.

    • http://purple.com/purple.html Captain Pup McPuppo

o i’ve def seen worse. hater.

    • B22201

I think this is actually the best one ever. I’m not even a fan of cats, but this one is pretty good.

      • B22201

though looking at it again, the Union Kitty on the right confuses me.

        • http://purple.com/purple.html Captain Pup McPuppo

they’re kitty civil war reenactors, i painted them after our mock Battle of Kittysburg last weekend. we’re all buddies!

          • South Side Chris

He’s got crossed sabers like he’s cavalry and infranty kit so he’s a Dragoon? I always suspected cats couldn’t fight from horseback.

          • O Newton

and Konfederate Kitty on the left is also confusing me, he’s got red piping, meaning he’s Artillery, but yet he carries a Springfield Model 1861 rifled musket made for infantry kitty regiments???

            bad kitty!

    Gen. Stonewall Kitty.

Maybe the fact checker could set his sights on the promises made about the street car…

  • novasteve

I’m curious, Barton street was just repaved, and I saw them street sweeping it. What’s the point? It’s brand new. Couldn’t they save money by NOT sweeping recently paved streets?

    • Josh S

      yowza.

    • thelevyisdry

That would require some sort of coordinated effort. Reminds me of the work they did to Walter Reed south of Colombia pike (adding those damn sidewalk hips) mere months after repaving the whole thing. Then they resurfaced it a few months back.

    • Quoth the Raven

I’m no paving genius, to be sure, but doesn’t the paving process leave a lot of stuff (dust, debris, very small rocks, etc) behind? Maybe the cleaning is part of the overall repaving process.

      • John Fontain

Yep, my street was top coated as well and the process left behind a surprising large amount of small, loose pieces of asphalt.

        • Rick

I vacuumed the chicken-mobile last week after a slurry sealing, it was nuts. So many rocks…

  • Mario

What’s the purpose of those two “guard towers” built next to the new O’Connell field? Two-story public bathrooms, his and hers?

  • ArlingTony

Um, is that picture available on a shirt, mug, anywhere else? What VA gift shop do I need to find to sell me something with those cats on it?

    • John Fontain

      It’s a tattoo on novasteve’s right bicep.

      • moderately sane

        + 1863

  • Rick

I’m glad we found the money in the budget this year to polish all the potholes.

    • Becoming indifferent

Gotta spend that Obama stimulus money before it goes away!

  • Rick

And the new O’Connell field is very nice. The outer track has been painted that odd shade of running track orange, and hopefully the lines go down soon.

    • YTK

      Hooray 4 Street Sweeping!

Now how about sidealk cleanup — Cr*p (pebbles &other detritus) from Snowmageddon is still on some sidewalks.

  • Bluemontsince1961

    Great picture, Captain Pup McPuppo!

  • YTK

Am reading “Enduring Battle” — very good book

    • kitty

      I liked “Enduring Kibble.”
