Arlington and the entire D.C. area is under a Tornado Watch through 7:00 tonight.

Forecasters say a line of strong storms will make its way through the area between 1:00 and 7:00 p.m. The storms could produce damaging winds, heavy rains and isolated tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED ALONG AND AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THROUGH THIS EVENING. HEAVY DOWNPOURS COULD LEAD TO LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING. IN ADDITION…SOME THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE SEVERE AND PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. THE MOST LIKELY TIME FOR SEVERE WEATHER LOOKS TO BE FROM 1 PM TO 7 PM.

After the last drill where a tornado warning was announced by a “confirmed” sighting in fairfax county, and local news networks said it was moving through Bailey’s crossroads…to only be told that there was no tornado at all….I am going to disregard. If a warning is announced I may look up.

Yeah, that’s wise! Just ignore all warnings of danger because some don’t pan out.

When the power goes out again, let’s all remember how wonderful that Trolley’s going to be!!

Maybe they can put wind turbines on it so it can still operate during power outages during wind storms? I think I’ll have to do a 15 year study on the bat population to make sure the wind turbine won’t harm them though.

North Arlington, 2 pm — wind gusts continue after apparently cleaning the trees of acorns (so no more acorn bans on the roof and other things).
