Disturbance at Arlington Screening of ‘Hating Breitbart’ — A liberal activist is accused of disrupting the Friday night showing of the documentary Hating Breitbart at the Regal theater at Ballston Common Mall. Moviegoers say the activist, Ryan Clayton, shouted at the screen and laughed loudly at inappropriate times during the film about the late conservative media icon. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Blinding white-hot light from those street lamps. Day two.

    • WeiQiang

at least 3500 deg Kelvin … oh, the humanity

    • daniel

Hey now, some of us prefer the orange lights. Of course, we happen to be friends of Snooki, and prefer a hint of orange on people’s faces and cleavage.

    • Dr_Klahn

It’s like Kenny Rogers Roasters – that light is burning your brain!

      • Tabby_TwoTone

Was it Newman who looked like a roasted chicken?

    • B22201

The blinding white light is drowned out by the useless blue lights on that building on the corner.

      • G Clifford Prout (now moderated for extra purity)

I can’t really determine where this was taken. The buildings look exactly like all the other new mixed use buildings being built.

“A liberal activist is accused of disrupting the Friday night showing of the documentary Hating Breitbart”

Typical. Liberals and their “tolerance.” What a crock. Thank heavens the American people are starting to wake up.

    • novasteve

In other news, the sky is blue. What do you expect from liberals?

      • drax

Whereas right-wingers are never obnoxious jerks.

        • bobbytiger

We appreciate your recognizing that fact. Thank you.

    • JamesE

      wake up sheeple!!!!

      • coppa

um no..we’re not all buying what Roger Ailes is selling.

        • hollywood

Right, you only buy what Michael Moore sells you.

          • coppa

wrong..I’m actually capable of reaching my own conclusions based on reading material from a variety of trusted sources. Your problem is that you don’t believe there are any….facts are just some kind of conspiracy..

    • BugNug

“Typical”? You seriously think that way? Scary.

    • Skeptical

If you read the story, you read that he piped down when he was asked to, that one of the people complaining about his laughter was a conservative flack, and that the reason he was actually asked to leave the premises was that he was buttonholing departing moviegoers with interview questions — which, last I heard, was a legal activity although the owner of a private space is also within rights to ask that he take it elsewhere.

And, of course, NO conservative was EVER a jackass under any circumstances, right? When conservatives pass gas, Febreze comes out, and rare gums and spices emerge when they blow their noses.

This is news? Geez, have any of you people ever been to Rocky Horror?

  • awesomepossum

Are people not allowed to laugh loudly at “inappropriate times”?

    • Observer

Society holds AW’s to a tougher standard than you and me.

    • Right of Center

Actually it was Joe Biden at the Regal theater at Ballston Common Mall. I’m surprised he didn’t fire bomb the food court, too.

      • BeamMeUp

Those chompers near a street light would be devastating.

        • Tabby_TwoTone

Joe Biden’s Chompers would make a great band name.

  • SilentMajorityNot

    Ahh the first amendment.

Provides you with a clear path from foot to mouth.

    RIP Breitbart. You the man.

  • FREDTERP

What is the lady peddling on the new path from the Pent City metro to Crystal City. She is blocking the path and does not have a license? FREDTERP

    • kung_fubar

Meth, bath salts, and unused Nats NLCS tickets.

      • WeiQiang

As of 0930, she had sold out of bath salts. I checked.

      • nom de guerre

She still has some gift certificates for the Foot Sanctuary.

    • happy cyclist

you had me confused for a minute there. When you said what was she peddling, I was thinking the answer might be a Trek hybrid. Or a Cannondale Road bike with a carbon frame.

      • FREDTERP

        happy, http://bit.ly/QRYmJL. FREDTERP

      • spandex empire

Like Lance Armstong – when he said he was peddling most people thought he was talking about his bike.

    • SomeGuy

In more pressing news… where have you been, FREDTERP?

      • Quoth the Raven

        +1!!!!!

    • drax

I noticed something? Why do you confuse question marks and periods.

  • http://blacknell.net/dynamic/ MB

In other words, the guy acted just like Breitbart. Maybe it was a tribute performance?

  • novasteve

Why isn’t there a mental health registry for convicts once they get released by sexual offenders? This guy if convicted could get 5 years get out, move to some community and this will be long forgotten where he could be free to do it again. This was just a local story, nobody outside of DC got to hear about it.

  • Dezlboy

Breitbart was a jerk, but so was the person interrupting other jerk’s interrupting.

  • WeiQiang

One important item that ArlNow omitted in the ‘Notes’ this morning:

STAND PROUD VIRGINIA – You lead the nation in ownership of fully-automatic weapons, with 30,000 such weapons registered in the Commonwealth. Florida is close behind with 29,000 [it is unclear whether cataracts is a criterion for getting a permit; otherwise, FL could have led the pack]. Cali is #3 with 27,500 fully-automatic weapons.

It’s unclear whether the real mean in rural areas of VA predominate in ownership or the effete, rich collectors of Northern Virginia are hoarding them.

    Kudos to KalashniKEV et al!

    • Quoth the Raven

This just tells me that Texans don’t register their automatic weapons!

      • WeiQiang

lol. that’s EXACTLY what I thought.

    • SomeGuy

#1 in ownership, but near the middle of the pack in gun violence per capita. Are we falling behind?

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state

      • Jackson

Are incidents of hitting walls, TVs, and your own foot with guns going off accidentally included in gun violence statistics, or as household accidents, like falling in the tub?

        • SomeGuy

I don’t know. But I’m sure you can find out for yourself if you review the source materials at the link I provided.

          • Jackson

Nah, not going to do that. Thanks for the offer!

  • Bacon

I peeked in a theatre showing the movie “expelled,” remember, the anti-evolution docufarse? Anyway, the movie was about halfway through and this old guy sitting toward the back turned around and gave me a nasty look as if I was disturbing the theatre by opening the door.

The people that go to these types of movies (conservative) equate seeing a conservative movie is akin to going to church.

    • UYD Fan

Um, maybe he just didn’t like someone ruining his movie by opening a door and letting in the light?

      • WeiQiang

True. Some people don’t like being enlightened and prefer staying the dark.

        • Quoth the Raven

B/c liberals are so much smarter, of course.

          • WeiQiang

I didn’t ascribe the phenomenon to anyone of any particular affiliation.

          • Bacon

Obama certainly shed light on the misleading # of ships comments Mitt has been using. How does it feel having your candidate caught trying to dupe you for months?

I guess Mitt thinks you aren’t smart enough to look up his deceptions.

          • Quoth the Raven

Give me a break. Are you going to tell me that “your candidate” is always honest about the numbers? Both are making stuff up, just like politicians always do before an election. So drop the self-righteousness.

          • Venn Diagram

I’m sure Mitt was too polite to remind him of some of Obama’s numbers.

            http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/57states.asp

        • SomeGuy

Are you implying that the liberal activist’s outbursts were actually an attempt to shield his ears?

          • WeiQiang

I am not ruling out a medical reaction to the content of the film, much as some people are believed to suffer epileptic seizures when light is flashed in certain ways.

  • Joe Hoya

I hope the people complaining about someone talking back at the screen and laughing at inappropriate times never tried going to see a movie at the Union Station theater.

  • Jackson

“shouted at the screen and laughed loudly at inappropriate times”

Umm, how is that different from the actions of moviegoers at any other movie showing at Ballston Mall? Have you ever seen a horror movie there? Half the audience screams at the screen.

  • DCBuff

Speaking of disruptions at the movie theatre, ArlCo strikes again, pushing its anti-car agenda at taxpayer expense. How many times/how many ways do we need to be told by ArlCo it wants us to bike/walk/trolley our way around?

    • Thes

If fewer people take cars and more bike/walk/trolley, won’t that reduce taxpayer expense to build more road capacity? Perhaps this is in the taxpayer interest after all…

      • hollywood

        no

        • drax

          Brilliant retort, Hollywood.

    • drax

Um, the more people who get off the roads, the more room you have on the roads.

  • Jackson

I’m also picturing Robert De Niro as Max Cady in “Cape Fear,” smoking a giant cigar and laughing maniacally.

  • DCBuff

Anybody eaten at Astor Med? How is the food?

    • Sherriff Gonna Getcha

its awesome actually. the gyro’s are great, so is the half chicken meal with the rice and tomato/cucumber salad. Pizza looks good, lots of people get it, but I’ve never had it, still working to try more of the menu. Been about 20 times tho.

      • B22201

Just don’t be fooled by the daily special on the board. For some reason the “special” on the board costs more money than the same item on the menu. . . weird. Not that they’re actually trying to fool anyone, just don’t see that as being “special”.

        It’s pretty good. . .

    • Ren

      Seconded…it’s very good.

      • Ren

        erm…Thirded…sorry : )

        • DCBuff

          Thanks to all 3!

    • Crystal City

I recommend the Mediterranean Chicken Sandwich and the Felafel Sandwich. Oh, and that carroty-lentily salad stuff. Delicious.

  • Ted

Arlington residents get put on a “car free diet”. County Board approves new 700+ vehicle parking garages for non-residents who want to drive to Rosslyn and Crystal City, one per vehicle. How smart is that?

  • ARLwahoo

Where was this picture taken? Anyone know?

ARLNow: can I make a suggestion that you start including a description of what the picture is? Useful for those of us trying to find this picturesque places. A picture of a tree doesn’t need a location in the caption, but a picture like this does…

    • JamesE

      mouse over photo

      • ARLwahoo

Thanks, never knew that was there. Appreciate it

    • SomeGuy

This one looks like a picture of Astor Mediterranean restaurant on Pershing Drive. Probably one that ddimick took. Just a hunch.

  • ArlingtonWay

Still a total waste of money. But at least the girl inthe video is cute and we don’t have to deal with that creepy neck-bearded Car Free Matt in this video.
