"As part of the public/private initiative, Red Top donated the former taxi, which has more than 396,000 miles on it, and paid for its makeover. ACPD donated the lights on top which had previously been a former police cruiser, and will be responsible for positioning the vehicle throughout the county. Both organizations emphasize that due to the donations, the vehicle was of practically no cost to taxpayers."

I stopped going out a couple of years ago but never had a problem with them when I did. You might have to wait longer than stepping outside and hailing a cab. Usually was best to call or have the bar call before closing time. Considering that I would drop $20 - $40 a weekend on cab fare alone, I looked forward to the SoberRide time periods.

That's just the half of it. Government pays 30-50% more on all projects/contracts than private would because they don't have the best estimators/experts/negotiaters. They are all on the private side because they get more money.

And then of course there are lazers on top of flying tank type projects, which cost tens of billions and sometimes never even produce one finished product.

But people love to b*tch about some laid off construction worker getting 400$ on food stamps to keep himself fed.

Because the livelihood of the posters you refer to depends on it, and principles and ideals break down. Many of them post on here while they're "working" and head home at 5 -- maybe 6 if things are really busy. It's hypocrisy at its finest. I welcome a reduction in the overinflated hours billed to the government. Someone 2 years out of undergrad bills 40 hours at 200+ an hour for 25 hours of work.
