A better and more relevant example is that I lived on the Pike for a few years, saving my pennies, not going out, forgoing fun and travel, and eventually purchased a home in North Arlington.

IF I had attended “Housing 4 Hipsters” at ARBG back then, I would have found out that I qualified for aid in a certain income bracket (which I was actually in for a short time after leaving the Army). I could have gotten my rent paid then, still had it paid now, and live in the same approximate area with the same standard of living, at an EASY 9-5/ 40 hr job- so long as I didn’t seek greater success.

That’s also IF I weren’t too proud (or perhaps too dumb) to hit the entitlement needle and shoot up on other people’s money. One good ride and you’re hooked…

Not-at-all. I pay for the care and feeding of the dependent class, therefore they are my pets.

The fact that the money is appropriated and distributed with a government face on it just leads to confusion on the part of the entitled- like an addict, they always want more, but because the government acts as the pusher, they fail to see the futility in attacking the supplier.

Please explain what you mean by “Defense Contractor Welfare Queens.”

Then explain why they are as big a threat to America as “Welfare Queens”

Also, I work for a small business where the owner makes… ummm… a bit more than that. Do you take issue with the NAICS size standards for Small Business? My main concentration is ($35.5M/yr to be small). Have you written a letter to the SBA?

This “humans as pets” thing is a fairly twisted way to view the situation. In my opinion.

“as recently as the early ’70′s along Metrorail corridors and more recently (1980′s) in others sections of the County” – what? This is an incomplete sentence. Are you saying that these parts of the County were “country” in those time frames??
Less dense, sure. But “country?”
In any case, it doesn’t matter since dd seems to be arguing against more dense development in Crystal City and references open space and “country.” My basic point is that it is far better for open space preservation and “country” to build in Crystal City than, say, Prince William or Loudon Counties.
