I’m glad OPM finally cleaned up the status this morning. When I checked at 6:45 this morning, their status page said employees should stay off the road until 10:00, but that offices were open for employees at 10:00 and to the public at noon. Does not compute! It’s not possible to start out at 10:00 and open an office at 10:00…that is, not unless you can transport yourself to work a la Star Trek.

Any word at the lady who slipped and fell at the Shirlington Bus stop this morning, 9:30 am?

The bus driver almost ran her over.

I won’t be surprised if there is a law suit.

Re lady falling, I finally sent in my complaint tonight:

      Hello,
** Please contact me with the results of the investigation into this incident. **

I need to report a bus driver of bus number 2502 leaving the scene of an accident this morning, as well as acting in a very unprofessional manner.

I boarded the 25a bus to the Pentagon, bus number 2502, in Fairlington at 35 & S Stafford St. At 9:15 am on January 25th a passenger waited closer to the stop sign than the bus stop – thats about 12-15 feet from the bus stop and maybe five feet from the bus stop sign. The bus driver drove past the passenger despite the passenger waving and making audible notice that she wanted to board the bus. At the next bus stop, approximately 100 feet from the missed passenger the bus driver picked up 3 or 4 passengers, the missed passenger was alongside the bus and the driver immediately pulled away well the passenger was within 2 feet of the door. At that point the driver clearly put the missed passenger in danger. All passengers were asking that he let the passenger on well still at the stop, but he refused, made various comments about not stopping, if people wanted to run they can risk their lives themselves.

The accident – hit and run – later at Shirlington Transfer Station the driver again departed the bus stop well a female passenger was alongside the bus. She knocked on the window and called for the driver to no leave well she was at the stop. He proceeded to drive away. As he departed he hit the passenger in some fashion. The accident was announced by other passengers and I told him there was an accident and he was leaving the scene. The driver stated his manager was at the Shirlington Transfer Station and the manager did not ask for him to stop. There was no way he knew that as he was rushing from the scene and for some reason was flat out refusing to check on the accident victim.

At least on passenger called metro’s number and spoke to someone well we were still on the bus. Multiple other passengers stated they would also call in.

** Please contact me with the results of the investigation into this incident. **

      Thank you,
      iolaire

Good luck actually getting a response. I’ve filed numerous complaints with Metro about different bus drivers/routes, and I’ve yet to hear boo from them. It’s like a black box — in goes the request, and who knows what or where anything comes out.

Please update us if you do hear anything.
