I smell an insurance scam, the District of Columbia enacted new regulations starting January 1st…….The new regulation: (1) prohibits any vehicle more than five years old or with more than 300,000 miles from being put in service as a taxicab in the District; (2) establishes a five-year schedule for removal for older vehicles; (3) clarifies that “salvaged” vehicles may no longer be put in service as a taxicab in the District; and (4) effective January 1, 2018, requires any vehicle more than seven years old or with more than 400,000 miles be taken out of service as a taxicab in the District. None of the allegedly stolen cabs satisify the regulations.

Why were cabs with DC plates parked in Arlington? Don’t cars that are garaged in Arlington need to have VA plates? I’m always doubly confused when I see a cab that has license plates from two states on it. What gives?

Good catch. I’ve never heard of South Columbia Pike. I wonder if they could possibly, and this is a stretch, mean the east bound lanes, since they are technically more southern than the west bound lanes? Maybe south OF Columbia Pike. Ehhh whatever, who knows….

5500 block of Columbia Pike is near Col Pike and South Jefferson Street- that place has been a high crime area for years now.
