I believe the primary users are bicyclists and joggers.

You probably don’t see any cyclists because there isn’t a lane for cyclists.

Making it easier for people to walk and ride bikes makes it easier for you to drive. I’ll let you figure out how.

That’s how I read this

–The replacement will be widened by 9 feet, to 105 feet, to accommodate an 14-foot shared use path and an 8-foot sidewalk on either side of the bridge — an improvement over the existing, narrow concrete sidewalks. –

Of course, what is really funny is there is no sidewalk on the eastbound 27 road except for the bridge and the westbound side never has any walkers (don’t see any bikers either) but, hey, lets keep making it difficult for people that drive.

I’m glad to hear about this project. The current side path is dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. The railing on the SW side is crumbling so badly that a temporary steel fence had to be added.

If this is the one I’m thinking about, it’s going to be a messy fix. But if it’s structurally deficient, best to get it done.

VDOT is a state agency that owns and maintains this road. The money will come for the state, not the county.

Try again though, you’ll hit something eventually.
