Crime Report: West Coast Prostitutes Arrested on the Pike

Two alleged prostitutes from California were arrested by Arlington police early Friday morning.

The pair was arrested at the Sheraton hotel on Columbia Pike, after police discovered online prostitution ads on the website Backpage.com, according Arlington County Police Department spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

“That’s usually the place these individuals are posting their solicitations,” Sternbeck said. From this week’s crime report:

KEEPING A BAWDY PLACE, 140110007, 900 block of S. Orme Street. On January 10 at 12:50am, two females were arrested after posting online solicitation ads and offering services to officers. Maryrose Ioane, 22, of Antioch, CA and Erlynn Sanchez Edwards, 22, of N. Highlands, CA were charged with keeping a bawdy place.

ROBBERY, 140110084, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. On January 10 at 10:43pm, a victim reported that as he was in the process of towing a subject’s vehicle for a parking permit violation, the subject pulled a pistol on him forcing the victim to release the car. The subject fled the scene and was located a short time later by police. William Eugene Jones Jr., 36, of Woodbridge, VA was arrested and charged for robbery, use of a firearm in committing a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, brandishing and possession of a concealed weapon. He was held without bond.

STRANGULATION, 140111013, 4700 block of Old Dominion Drive. At approximately 1:30am on January 11, police responded to an incident involving an intoxicated subject that had assaulted a female victim. The 19 year-old victim sustained minor injuries. Kevin Brennan, 19, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with strangulation, underage possession of alcohol, and appearing intoxicated in public.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 140110016, 1800 block of 21st Street. Between 11:30 pm on January 9 and 7:30 am on January 10, at least 9 vehicles were broken into and the airbags taken from the steering wheel on various streets in North Arlington. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140109054, 1000 block of N. Arlington Boulevard. At 5:49 pm on January 9, a homeowner discovered items were missing from his apartment, including two iPads and a cell phone. There is no suspect(s) description.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 140113011, 3700 block of S. Columbia Pike. On January 13 at 1:50am, 4 subjects were arrested for unlawfully entering a vacant apartment using a stolen master key. Oscar Jimenez, 18, of Arlington, VA, William Randal Ennis, 18, of Arlington, VA, Austin Thomas Blach, 18, of Arlington, VA, and Hugh Connor Durbin, 18, of Arlington, VA were all arrested for unlawful entry. Jimenez was additionally charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.

MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPIED DWELLING, 140114053, 3300 block of S. Stafford Street. On January 14 at 7:38pm, two residents reported that a brick had been thrown through their kitchen window. There is no suspect(s) description.

The STEAM Workforce Development Teacher Fellowship provides Arlington Public Schools (APS) high school, middle school, and elementary school teachers with opportunities to learn about workplace needs in STEAM-related fields and for them to use the experience to enhance student learning to match workplace expectations in a selected industry. STEAM Fellows participate in a three-week summer fellowship, receiving a $4,000 stipend upon completion.
