Arlington Pet of the Week: Addy

This week’s Pet of the Week is a rescue cat who was found in the parking lot of a Wendy’s, and waited months for her forever home.

Here’s what Addy’s owner, Jessica, had to say about her furry fast food find:

Addison (Addy) was born in 2007 and was rescued a few months later in a Wendy’s parking lot, severely malnourished and dehydrated on a 90 degree summer day. After being nursed back to health by the rescue agency and her foster mom, Addy was ready to be adopted. For over 6 weeks, she made the three-hour trip back and forth from her foster home to the PetSmart adoption event in Arlington — but no one adopted her because she wasn’t a newborn kitten and was afraid of all the people. But fate had a plan!

After my cat of 13 years passed away, I found myself walking around PetSmart admiring the kittens. I told my story to one of the ladies, explaining I wanted to adopt a slightly older kitten who would be playful, yet affectionate. The lady showed me Addy and took her out of the cage for me to hold. As soon as Addy was in my arms, she started purring so loud that everyone around could hear her (I call this her motorboat purr). Needless to say, it was love at first sight as I started crying and immediately adopted her.

7 years later, Addy is still a “mama’s girl.” She runs to the door when I come home and sleeps with me each night. She loves to nap either laying on my stomach, curled up in my arms, on the heated mattress pad or on the couch waiting for me to get home. Other than sleeping, her favorite activity is stalking birds and squirrels from the window. While she does not like cat treats, her two favorite treats are chicken (which she literally tries to eat out of my hand) and wet cat food.

Unlike our competitors, Well-Paid Maids doesn’t clean your home with harsh chemicals. Instead, we handpick cleaning products rated “safest” by the Environmental Working Group, the leading rating organization regarding product safety.

The reason is threefold.

First, using safe cleaning products ensures toxic chemicals won’t leak into waterways or harm wildlife if disposed of improperly.

Second, it’s better for you and your family. Fragrant chemicals in surface cleaners can expose you to a similar amount of pollutant particles as a busy city road, New Scientist reported.
