Crime Report: Attempted Armed Robbery Near Police HQ

A man with a gun allegedly tried to rob a woman in the Hilton Garden Inn in Courthouse, just a half block from Arlington police headquarters.

The incident happened around 11:20 a.m. this past Thursday. From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 140515023, 1300 block of N. Courthouse Road. At 11:20 am on May 15, an unknown subject allegedly attempted to rob a female victim at gunpoint outside of her hotel room. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to taking anything from the victim. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’6″ tall and 160 lbs. He was wearing a grey jacket, tan pants and construction boots.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140517007, 900 block of N. Jackson Street. At 2 am on May 17, a subject assaulted a 33 year-old victim outside of Darna Lounge and attempted to flee the scene on foot when police arrived. The subject was apprehended after a foot pursuit and taser deployment. Tyrone Jackson, 23, of Centreville, VA was arrested and charged with malicious wounding, obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY MOB, 140517011, 3100 block of S. Eads Street. At 3 am on May 17, a group of four subjects allegedly assaulted a 25 year-old victim following a verbal altercation. The suspects were described as three Hispanic males in their 20s and a black male in his 20s. They were wearing white t-shirts at the time of the incident.

UNLAWFUL WOUNDING, 140515036, 4200 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. On May 15 at 1:59 pm, a subject struck a victim in the head with a rock following a dispute on a soccer field. The victim was transported to the hospital with a large laceration on his forehead. Fekadu Gemechu, 33, of Alexandria, VA was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding. He was held on a secured bond.

ROBBERY, 140516057, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At 8:57 pm on May 16, two victims were allegedly robbed at knifepoint by four subjects of sunglasses and a small amount of cash. The suspects are described as black males in their mid-late teens. They fled to the Metro location at the front entrance of the mall.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 140516055, 200 block of S. Glebe Road. At 5 pm on May 16, two suspects allegedly attempted to rob two juveniles of their belongings at knifepoint. The victims fled the scene on foot before the suspects were able to take anything. Suspect one is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, 175 lbs and had bleach blonde hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and black sneakers. Suspect two is described as a black male, approximately 6’0″ tall and 180 lbs with long dreads. He was wearing a brown polo shirt, jeans and black boots.

INDECENT LIBERTIES WITH CHILDREN, 140519072, 1000 block of S. Cleveland Street. At 5 pm on May 19, a subject was seen masturbating in his car in front of a daycare as children were playing in the front yard. Police arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody. Alberto Sanchez Jr, 38, of New Haven, CT was arrested and charged with taking indecent liberties with children. He was held without bond.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 140515063, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. At 6:25 pm on May 15, as the male victim was using the restroom, a male subject entered and began masturbating next to him. The victim did not wish to prosecute but the suspect, Stephen Labas, 54, of Washington, DC was banned from the mall.

PEEPING TOM, 140514067, 800 block of S. Arlington Mill Drive. At 10:45 pm on May 14, as the victim was getting dressed he noticed an unknown suspect peeping at him through a window of the residence. The suspect fled on foot. He is described as a bald headed male in his 40s or 50s.

PEEPING TOM, 140520066, 5600 block of N. 8th Road. At 11:20 pm on May 20, a female victim noticed a man standing at her backdoor looking at her as she was lying in bed. The suspect fled on foot when the victim sat upright. The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties, with a bald head and was wearing a dark colored hoodie.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 140516011, 1100 block of N. Kentucky Street. Between 9:15 pm on May 15 and 7 am on May 16, eight vehicles were broken into and airbags stolen. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140514031, 4900 block of S. 7th Road. Between 10:20 am and 11:50 am on May 14, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole electronics and jewelry. There is no suspect(s) description.
