Arlington Pet of the Week: Kona

Becky's Pet Care

This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Kona, who likes to give her owners a prompt, 5:00 a.m. wakeup call with a headbutt.

Here’s what owner Megan had to say about her cat:

My name is Kona, and I am a lovely 2-year-old tortoiseshell domestic short-hair cat. On a Saturday morning three months ago, I woke up as I had for at least two months before: in a cage in a PetSmart. The animal rescue that had saved me treated me so well, but it was not the same as being in a forever home. But, a nice lady and man who had seen me on the Internet saw how beautiful I was and how much promise I had, and they brought me to my new home in Arlington.

I was allowed to bring my favorite toy, Mousie, who I like to flip in the air and bat around with my feet. And, the nice people bought me a bunch of other toys, which I enjoy playing with at about 3:00 in the morning. It’s a good warm-up for 5:00 in the morning, when I like to head butt my new owners to get up and start the day with me.

I’m a talkative girl, and I meow most of the time when I am spoken to by my humans. I am also a kitty who appreciates the simple things in life: nothing makes me happier than sitting in a fresh cardboard box. I am a “binge watcher” of what my people call “my television,” a window with a panoramic view of a birdbath. Arlington is a breathtaking and peaceful place for me, and I look forward to making it my home for a very long time.
