Crime Report: Violent, Drunken Cab Fare Dispute

Old Arlington County police car paint job (file photo)A woman was arrested for public drunkenness and assaulting police officers after a cab fare dispute last week.

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, just before 6:00 p.m., police responded to an address near the Rosslyn Metro for a cab fare dispute, a fairly routine call. However, the taxi passenger was found to be drunk in public and was arrested — and she didn’t go down without a fight, police say.

The woman allegedly kicked two police officers as she was being loaded into the patrol car, injuring them.

From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

BATTERY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (2 COUNTS) / DRUNK IN PUBLIC,141223047, 1800 block of N. Nash St, On 12/23/14 at 1752 hours, officers responded for a cabfare dispute. The suspect was located and she was intoxicated in public. After the suspect was arrested, she kicked two police officers as she was being loaded into the patrol vehicle. Both officers sustained minor injuries and the suspect was held without bond.

Also in this week’s crime report, a woman reported being sexually assaulted in Ballston by a man with whom she went on a date. The alleged crime happened after she used the man’s bathroom, as she was trying to leave to go home.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, 141217058, 900 block of N Stuart St, A female victim told police that between 2030 hours and 2115 hours on 12/17/14, she went to a restaurant with a known male subject. She dropped him off at his residence and requested to use the bathroom before heading home. Upon doing so, she was pushed onto his bed where he she was sexually assaulted. The victim spoke with detectives and the investigation continues.

PACKAGE LARCENY (SERIES), 141217038/040/041, 1100 block N Taylor St, Sometime between 1303 hours on 12/8/14 and 1500 hours on 12/17/14, unknown subject(s) took packages delivered to the victim’s residences and removed the contents. A possible suspect was seen in the area days before and is described as a black male, 20-30 years of age, 5’10”, 170 lbs, skinny to medium build, wearing casual clothes and possibly a hooded sweatshirt.

BREAKING AND ENTERING, 141218001, 1500 block of N Rhodes St, On 12/17/14 between 0835 and 1700 hours, unknown subject(s) forced entry through the back door and stole several electronic items. There is no suspect information at this time.

PRESCRIPTION FRAUD/CONSPIRACY, 141218023/034, 3100 block of Lee Hwy, On 12/18/14 at 1204 hours, 3 subjects were arrested in connection with prescription fraud. A pharmacy clerk became suspicious and called police after noticing the same subject attempting to fill a similar prescription using a different name on the same day.

LARCENY (SERIES), 141219011-017/021-023, 1300 Blk N Oak St/1300 Blk N Ode St, Sometime between the hours of 0000 and 0530, unknown subject(s) entered the apartment buildings and removed items from packages delivered to residents. The opened packages were found by a resident outside of the building. There is no suspect information at this time.

LARCENY FROM AUTO/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (SERIES), 141219025/026/027/028, 1300 block of Wilson Blvd, Sometime between 1700 hours on 12/18/14 and 0700 hours on 12/19/14, unknown subject(s) broke the passenger side windows of numerous vehicles and stole loose change. There is no suspect information at this time.

PETIT LARCENY (SERIES), 141220037/038/039, 1100 Blk N Vermont St., Sometime between 1434 hours on 12/16/14 and 1523 hours on 12/20/14, unknown subject(s) stole packages from the front door/porch of various homes and stole the delivered items. The packages were found by a resident who reported it to the police. There are no suspects at this time.

BURGLARY, 141221010, 2600 block of N Powhatan St, On 12/21/14 between 0420 and 0424 hours, an unknown subject entered a vehicle, which was parked in a garage, and stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet containing several credit and bank cards. Ther is no suspect information at this time.

ROBBERY, 141221009, 3800 block of 5th St N, On 12/21/15 at 0315 hours, a male victim told police two unknown male subjects attempted to rob him at knifepoint. When the victim showed the subjects he had nothing to take, the subjects left on foot. Police were able to find the one of the subjects nearby and was positively identified by the victim. The second subject fled but was identified by the victim as well through a photo. The first subject was arrested and charged accordingly. A warrant was issued for the second subject who turned himself in later.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 141222010, 3100 block of N Glebe Rd, On 12/22/14 at 0815 hours, three subjects were found trespassing in a home currently under construction. The homeowner, who is residing in the basement until construction is complete, confronted them, requesting they leave. Police found the subjects, who also reside locally, down the road. The subjects did not know the property was occupied and were only looking at the progress of construction. The homeowner did not wish to prosecute.

GRAND LARCENY/PETIT LARCENY (SERIES),141222031/043/044/045/046/051/056/059, 1100 Blk N Taylor St/1100 Blk N Stuart St/1100 Blk N Utah St/1100 Blk N Randolph St, On 12/22/14, a male subject was arrested for stealing packages off the front porches of residences between the hours of 0700 and 1445.

BURGLARY, 141223062, 1900 block of Columbia Pk, On 12/23/14, between the hours of 2020-2325, unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s apartment through a window after cutting away the screen. Contents of only one room were disturbed and some miscellaneous foreign currency was stolen. The suspect(s) may have been scared off by the victim returning home.
