Former Virginia State Senator Whipple Endorses Reid Goldstein for School Board

ARLINGTON – Former Virginia State Senator and Arlington School Board and County Board member Mary Margaret Whipple joins the growing list of elected officials to endorse Reid Goldstein for Arlington School Board.

“I am impressed by Reid’s years of dedication and hard work on behalf of Arlington’s schools and communities,” Sen. Whipple said, “His in-depth knowledge of the challenges our schools face and his personal skills will be a tremendous asset to our community and our excellent public schools. Reid’s work at the strategic level in our schools and as a parent volunteer in several parent-teacher organizations will serve him and the residents of Arlington well during his time on the Arlington School Board. I endorse Reid Goldstein and happily give my support to his campaign.”

Sen. Whipple served in the Virginia Senate from 1996 to 2012 and is a former Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus. Sen. Whipple was an Arlington County Board member from 1983 to 1995 and its Chair in 1986 and 1994. Sen. Whipple also served on the Arlington School Board from 1976 to 1980, and as its Chair from 1978 to 1979. With the endorsement by Sen. Whipple, Reid Goldstein’s supporters include current Arlington School Board Member Nancy Van Doren, Virginia Senator Adam Ebbin (30th), Virginia Delegate Alfonso Lopez (49th), former Arlington County Board member Chris Zimmerman, former County Board member and APAH founder Joe Wholey, and longtime schools advocate Ann Felker.
