I went to the Shirlington Dog Park this weekend to find that they have all of the access to 4-mile Run shut down until further notice. Does anybody know why it was shut down or when they may open up 4 mile Run again at the park? It is one of the best features of the park!
I know it's been closed periodically this summer due to raw sewage spillover. Personally, I don't let my dog into Four Mile Run – all it took was one sip once for him to get a terrible upset stomach, and I've heard of lots of cases of giardia. If you do decide to risk it, try to keep him or her from ingesting any water, and go straight from the creek into a bath!
