Has anyone else had false charges on their tabs from atown? Think they are stealing money from people… I have heard of several cases to date. If so, who can we contact in Arlington County to bring this to a halt?
Have you tried contacting them first? I know some bars have double charges show up but only one goes through (not sure why this is but I’ve seen it at a few places).
Been to A-Town many many times to party with Friends on the weekends especially when things are packed and getting crazy in there as it does every weekend and have not had a single issue once with my bill. My friends and I each order rounds of drinks/shots all the time when we are there and not a single issue with phantom charges.
I’ve been to other bars in the area that have been accused of the same thing…. Its as simple as it gets people “TAB CHECK” they will always print you up a receipt of what is currently on your tab.
Long time lurker here. Live down in DC and have a few friends in Ballston and we have hit this place quite a few times during the weekend and never had issues. Staff is usually really cool not any issues on my bill.
I think here the issue is that the rookie bar goers don’t understand that when opening and closing tabs a couple/few times, the previous (oldest) tab will be a void. The last tab will be a total and updated tab and cancelling out the previous. The credit card companies take 2-3 days to process. What sence would it make for bartenders to overcharge? splitting a 15 maybe 20 dollar tip 5 ways ?? not worth it gentlemen. smarten up a bit, I’ve yet to be overcharged for a single drink at the establishment and further more the bartenders are curtious and some of the quickest I’ve seen in Arlington… As a freequent barfly, I won’t deny having a couple rough nights and not remembering what I’ve ordered or even putting drinks on a tab which I didn’t remember closing. Anyway, I have no issues here…
I went to A-Town with some friends a few months ago and was charged over $100 bucks 8 separate times on my account. After 3 days, 7 of the charges eventually dropped off the account so I ended up paying the correct amount but I wasn’t too happy having nearly 1000 bucks taken out of my account for a 100 tab.
Yep. Happened to me and three other friends of mine. Had the girl I was with not questioned the charges, I would have paid for it without noticing it, but it virtually doubled my bill.
My friends were in a far worse situation than I was. We all frequent all of the bars in this area and I’ve never experienced anything like this before at another bar.
None of us have been back.

She sounds like a keeper.
Never happened to me. This looks like one person scorned and going crazy under several names. Frank Miller? Mike Smith? LOL. Anyway, I can’t say what happened to everyone else, but I’ve been to ATown every Sunday for 12 weeks I think. Maybe I’m the one who should be getting laughed at. If they charged me more, I’d probably still go though…there’s no other place like it in Arlington. The place is always packed. Frankly…I just go for the women.

Interesting to see this first-time poster here staunchly defending this place and telling the rest of us to “smarten up.”
Methinks the one who should smarten up is you and the rest of the A-Town staff.
Now that I look at what Newty is saying…almost everyone on here seems like a first time user. Something strange is going on here. Sounds like a personal issue between a couple people.

Someone else that just signed up today to post on this topic. I’m seeing a pattern here. We’ll take advice from long-term users/posters around here, but thanks for your input.
I do love the part where you say, if they overcharged you, you’d go there anyways.
LOL! Wow…
I’m right there with you Newty. At this point, it seems like the whole thread is you talking to yourself under different names, LOL. Agreed. Long term posters only.
SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS, that’s how people lose track of their bill at A-town.
Andddddddd finally. James! Another long term poster. The Anti-Newty! LOL. This thread is cracking me up.
