Any shops to VA safety inspections on saturday?
  • novasteve June 15, 2012 - 9:00 am #50983 Reply

My usual place arlington autocare only does on the first and last saturday of the month, and I might not be here that day. Any do this normally on Saturdays? Thanks.

Any gas station with a garage should be open Saturday for inspections

Most places do; just get there early and be the first in line. Last time I went to the Shell on the west side of Glebe immediately north of the intersection with Lee Highway. The guy was real nice, and did emissions + safety in about 20 minutes, NO funny business, just a smile, paid, sticker, sent on my way.

I think Westover Service Center on Lee Highway near Lee/Harrison does inspections on Saturdays.

I know the Exxon on Lee Highway near Barton Street is definitely open on Saturday. I also think Cherrydale Motors on Lee eastbound just north of 66 is open on Saturdays.

    I second courthound's recommendation.

Bonus: The Lee Highway Exxon sells Mexican Cokes – full-size – in glass bottles!

There any place around here that sells Mexican Coke in cans or 2-L's?

Oh, and Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer…Haven't been able to find that in Arlington either

Not sure if the Westover Service Center still does inspections since it changed hands and names. The Sunoco on Lee right there does inspections too.

I haven't seen cans or 2 liters. It's always glass bottles. El Charrito Caminante on Washington also sells them.

Haven't seen the Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer. District Taco and Chop't both serve Boylan's though. If you do find it I would love to try it.

(Sorry for drifting a thread on inspections off-topic and onto sodas)

It's pretty easy to find once you get out into suburbia and the grocery stores get bigger, just haven't seen it at any of the Arlington stores I usually hit.

I'd recommend the Shell station on Rt. 29 just west of Rt. 66 (in Cherrydale).  Easy in and out with no lines.

Arlington Auto Care on the other hand?  I just posted about them the other day.  I don't understand why anyone would wait in a long line at this place only to have them find something, anything, wrong with your car that will need to be fixed before you pass inspection.

They did as of last month, but I did not go on a Saturday.

They're the one across the street from me, and I believe they are open on Saturdays too.

Thanks for the reminder, I am overdue for my emissions inspection.

Quick reminder–how much do the emissions &/or safety inspections cost?

The VA State Police Safety Division states that the safety inspection is $16.00.  The VA DMV site indicates the emission inspection should cost no more than $28.
