Anyone know what happened in Buckingham last night?
  • novasteve January 28, 2013 - 10:41 am #64418 Reply

I was driving to BJs via Pershing and when I crossed Glebe, an ambulance and firetruck made left onto Pershing nad stopped and they ran out. Took a little bit ofr a cop to show up, dont’ know if he was responding to help or to direct traffic as I passed. Later on when I was at BJS, inside, I heard a helicopter from inside, so it must have been really really low. Was there any connection?

Yes and no, it depends on how you look at it.  Sometimes the spring season comes early and the flowers get tricked into an early bloom.  Other times, winter clings on for a few extra weeks and we get a surprise snow in early April.  Besides, walking that distance everyday is bound to wear out your shoes quicker than your socks.

Although he was young, he understood the significance of the war, and in February 1945, recalls the virtual obliteration of Dresden: “In the night, everyone came out into the street in this village 100 kilometers away. Dresden was being bombed, ‘Now, at this moment!

So I guess the answer is that no one knows what was happening in Buckinghan last night, and whether or not the helicopter was connected.

I was in this prematurely air conditioned supermarket and there were all these aisles and there were these bathing caps you could buy that had these kind of Fourth of July plumes on them that were red and yellow and blue and I wasn’t tempted to buy one but I was reminded of the fact that I had been avoiding the beach.

The narcotics took effect while we drove. The night streets of Buckingham had a cavernous smell, of dank asphalt & rotting fish. Oil slicks parted like rainbows under the wheels of the cab. We left the neon-lit tourist district & entered the tangle of shops & housing that had grown around the county in the last thirty years, makeshift slums giving way to the new prosperity, bulldozers parked under tarps between tin-roofed shacks. High-rise tenements grew like mushrooms from a compost of squatters’ fields. Then we passed through the factory zone, gray walled & razor wired, & I slept, I think, again.

Thanks for your short stories, guys. Anyone know what happened? Was the helicopter a medivac? Did the person, if that was the case, survive? If you  need to know how loud the helicopter was, I was by the freezers in BJS, so if it was really loud there, it was literally at roof top level.

What is BJs? BJs Wholesale? That’s nowhere near Buckingham though.

When a helicopter is invovle, nothing is that far away.  What is it, tops, 2 miles?
