Arlington Nazis?

So I was doing some research and I came across this,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Nazi_Party      “Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia…”

Their headquarters were located just a short walk away from my humble abode. I’ve been doing some research but I’m unable to prove or disprove that they still reside here, anyone know? This is merely out of sheer curiosity, I’m just some nosy high school student.

Not sure why my original reply wasn’t posted.

The headquarters of the American Nazi party was formerly housed in the same building as Java Shack. The leader, George Lincoln Rockwell, was killed by a sniper (believed to be one of his former party members) at the Dominion Hills shopping center on Wilson Boulevard between Bluemont Park and Upton Hill park.

Shocking how recently this was!  I had heard that they were located in that space, but I assumed it was a much longer time ago!

The Java Shack in Clarendon was their last HQ after their leader George Rockwell was murdered. I believe when they left Clarendon they went to Idaho.

B4 Clarendon they were near Ballston, on N. Randolf street (a block from my dentist as a kid).

Here is an article from a couple years ago when some flyers showed up in the restroom of the Java Shack.

Arlington was quite a bit different in the 60′s.

They were located in the building that is now occupied by Java Shack.

The last leader, George Rockwell, was murdered at Dominion Hills Shopping Center on the north side of Wilson Boulevard between Bluemont Park and Upton Hill Park.

Their first two headquarters were demolished – the first was where Upton Hills Regional park is, the second apparently was where A-Town is in Ballston. Java Shack in Clarendon was their last HQ in Arlington.

An added bonus for your neighborhood – the founder of the American Nazi Party was assassinated in Dominion Hills too (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lincoln_Rockwell).

Headquartered at the current Java Shack. Crazy right? From what I heard they would occasionally hang their flag on that building and it’d be quite visible. Jarring to new visitors. My parents lived and still live in the neighborhood when they were around and would occasionally see them.

It was the subject of an ArlNow post last year. The headquarters was where Java Shack is now.

Yes. Their HQ used to be where the Java Shack is now.

In the summer of 1997, I was 15 and was on Wilson Blvd one day when I noticed a group of people marching up the steet (toward the Dominion Hills shopping center). I was across the street. One of them was carrying a red flag. Well, a gust of wind blew that flag so that I could see the big black swastika in the middle of it. It was unbelievable and I will never forget it.

According to George Lincoln Rockwell’s wiki page, he was assassinated on Aug 25, 1967 at the DH shopping center, so that’s why they were marching there.

I remember that.  They were located where the Java Shack now sits, at 2507 North Franklin Street.  It’s near Wilson Boulevard, behind Mr. Tire.

I can’t remember if they also occupied what’s now the pet store next door.

There might be something on it in Facebook, in the “I grew up in Arlington” page.

    Hope that helps.

The headquarters is now a coffee shop.  http://blogs.weta.org/boundarystones/2013/01/02/nazis-arlington-george-rockwell-and-anp

Interestingly, the Nazi’s frowned on drinking coffee as most German coffee (bean) traders were Jewish and traded with Jews who owned coffee bean plantations in Chile, Brazil, and South Africa.
