Home > General Discussion > Arlington, the snobby parts, could use a German beerhall type place
-
For the love of God, can we PLEASE have something different here? Have it shaped like a Bierkeller, wooden benches, darkish, german food. Just something different please.
and firepits, live music, pretzel girls…
if only i had the funds to make this happen……
By live music I hope you are referring to accordion and oopmah music with tubas, right?
I like the idea.
The problem is that it would turn out just like Biergarten Haus up on H Street. Which is to say that it would be more or less just a high-priced snobby mockery of itself. And would make its owners a TON of money.
Must be me, but I seem to miss all the Arlington “snobs”. But then again, I don't live in the “snobby” or “trendy” part of Arlington. Sigh. I'm just sooooooo not hip to the scene. Oh well, I haven't been hip since 1973.
What the area needs is a classy taco bell that serves beer

Yeah, I figure with the people and the cost of rent and thus the prices, that's what it'll be like. I guess it'll have to be in some recently rezoned former industrial area. dr. Dremos can open next door.
Couldn't agree more, I've been saying this for a few years. Even if it's overpriced, it would make an absolute killing. Think Bohemian Hall Beer Garden in Astoria, for those of you from NY.
I nominate this place, at Washington Blvd and 13th St N near Clarendon (almost certainly not do-able because of zoning, but I can dream, can't I?).

Oh, you are so cruel to make me think about the Bohemian Hall Beer Garden when it's so far away! I've been to it, and it's just a wonderful place.
As for a location, I'd prefer a less-brah-friendly area like Westover or Shirlington, but even they won't be safe forever.
I nominate imploding the ballston mall and turning the entire lot into a beer hall theme park.

Since you just dropped an Astoria reference, I now nominate you to be the official forum/comment board patroller for the misuse of the term “hipster”. You should be quite busy.

I take back about 30 percent of the bad things I’ve said about you, steve.
Though we know you want to ruin the entire thing by smoking in it.

Stick in those european air vacuum thingies. That air is cleaner than regular air.
If I win megamillions tonight, I will open this place. however, it has to smell like sauerkraut. Despite can standing the taste, I love the smell. So if you dont' want a bar that smells like sauerkraut, you'll have to find a different place.
