Arlington Village power outage?
  • ARLien July 2, 2012 - 8:22 am #51740 Reply

I live in Arlington Village and I still do not have power… Does anyone know anything about when power is going to be back up? This is completely unacceptable on Dominion's part, considering they have a large headquarters located within 1 mile.

Any other disgruntled Arlington Village residents out there?

From the Sunday Evening Power Outage Update article:

Dominion says it hopes to restore power to 80-85 of all customers by Tuesday night, and 90-95 percent of customers by Thursday night.

Other than that, I don't know Dominion Power's plans. They do have an interactive power outage map that gives a general idea of the concentration of the affected areas. I expect them to focus on the worst-affected areas first.

Well come on, you don't expect them to restore power there before they finish working on north Arlington, do you?

The north end of AV had power restored around 5:30pm Saturday, but Comcast service is still down.

I haven't been back there since last night, so if anyone finds out when it comes back and can post in here, it would be appreciated. My coworker lives there too and told me the she got power around 6pm Saturday.  I'm in the back of the Village, near 16th and Barton.

    Unacceptable, eh?

I think the storm was pretty unacceptable.  I am really upset at Mother Nature and won't vote for her re-election.

But, seriously, how could Dominion forget about “your” needs?  You need power!  Why aren't their crews working harder than 16 hour shifts to restore “your” power?  It's like they're totally ignoring you and they're probably sitting around watching Euro Cup drinking beers with their friends laughing about you being in the dark without air conditioning.

You should find another power company that cares more about you.

    Awesome post.

As of 9 am, I also had no power in AV–those of us between west of Edgewood are on the same lines as the Commons and the single family homes in that area. I think that there are others closer to the pool who also don't have power.

How about you mind your own business, pal? I am sure you would be pretty satisfied if you were without power for 4 day, right? Its DB's like you who ruin forums like these. Just keep your irrelevant comments to yourself.

Well, you've posted in a public forum and basically put your words up for discussion.  Therefore, you made it everyone's business… including mine.

And, I lost power during the storm as well.  But, I can tell you that while it was frustrating to be without power, I certainly wasn't crying to strangers about the behavior of Dominion not getting MY power restored first.  I'm sure they target those with the most critical need first.

So, for you to call the behavior of those men and women that are putting in 16 hour days “unacceptable” in spite of the fact that little else can be done and they're working as hard as they can simply because your needs aren't being satisfied immediately… is completely “unacceptable” in my book.

How about some appreciation instead of lip service?

You are really proving your stupidity the more you talk. I am not talking about only “MY” power. I am talking about a whole community and 25% of Arlington.

I work 14 to 16 hours a day so I dont really have any sympathy for the Dominion employees who chose that line of work. I pay premium dollars for electricity every month. In all fields of work, there are times when you are busier than others. Dominion has to realize that and get to work. I can honestly say that I have not seen ONE dominion truck in Arlington.

Arlien, I hope Dominion reads this and restores your power last.  You have no clue how hard the Dominion folks have been working since Friday night.  Do you realize the groundsmen wear full rubber bodysuits in their cherrypickers in close to 100 degree heat?  For 16 hours a day?

Premium dollars, eh?  Sounds like some real top shelf electricity to me.  Does that service come with a back rub as well?

As I said before, you should find an power company that cares more about your needs.
