The third annual “Santa Paws” pet photos with Santa will be taking place tonight from 6-9 PM at Dogma Bakery in Shirlington. Please have you dog wear his or her best Christmas sweater for your Christmas card photo.
I hear Fairlington childless couples will be walking down the hill together tonight in a parade like formation for this event.

Serious question not necessarily pertaining to childless couples: Why do people feel the need to treat their pets as if they were people? I get that pets are part of the family…
That bugs me. Pets are pets, and kids are kids. They are not the same thing. I remember reading one of those advice columns where the writer was explaining how her friend got pissed at her because after the friend lost a child, the writer tried to empathize by describing how she felt when her pet died. Writer didn’t understand why that made the friend upset. Totally freaking clueless.
And I don’t want a picture of your dog on your Christmas card. I don’t care what your dog looks like or how you’ve dressed him in a sweater. Maybe that’s just me, or I’m too bitter this morning, but I hate cards like that.
+1, but I hate getting ALL xmas cards…no one cares, seriously.
I hate getting them and then sending them because I feel like I have to reciprocate. It’s a waste of money. I agree. Nobody cares.

In the parks and rec director story. Showed up there, apropos of nothing…

ah, thanks. i wasn’t looking in the comments.
I knew a woman who at a condo board meeting compared her raising a dog to a father raising a three year old boy. I was astounded by the analogy.
I knew a woman who, at a condo board meeting, compared herself raising a dog to a couple raising a two year old boy. I was floored she made the analogy with a straight face and with such self righteous conviction.
