Anyone know why Courthouse Road is scheduled to be closed near the courthouse next Tuesday? An electronic message board popped up at the corner of Courthouse & 14th indicating such.
Don’t have an answer, looked all over the Arl Co website. Found info on the Courthouse (bridge?) project, but nothing about the Tues closing. My guess is its related to that project?
I was thinking Route 50/Courthouse Road project as well but thought that 6AM-10AM was an odd time.
This is going to make for a miserable Tuesday commute for many.
I agree it could be construction related, or it also could be an event? Tuesday Morning seems and odd time during rush hour to be a closure for construction purposes. Maybe there’s some event, possibly even some kind of high profile hearing by the courthouse?
They didn’t close the road for Marv Alpert. Who else could it be? The Air Force guy?
Just seems odd to close it during rush hour though if that were the reason, some oversized equipment would arrive before rushhour. So it is possible.
Could be that whatever construction is to be done is such that the crew needs full daylight, versus those bright lights, to see what they are doing? Or what the crew is doing precludes using the lights or electricity?
Another possibility – some equipment delivery is coming in that requires it be unloaded in that area.
We were just told that this is for the annual Arlington County law enforcement memorial ceremony. The usual plaza location for the ceremony is not available due to construction.
In DC they are ticketing the out of state police officers in their official vehicles for the memorial bicycle race they do every year.
Well, according to News4 yesterday, most of those vehicles have been illegally. The law’s the law!
