What is the deal with fire trucks, ambulances, and police responding “CODE 3: Life-threat response. Emergency traffic, or simultaneous use of lights and siren required in order to achieve a rapid response. In most circumstances this does allow the responding unit to ignore jurisdictional traffic laws, but does not allow the responding unit operate without due regard to safety” at all hours? At 4am is it really necessary for the aforementioned to respond with lights AND sirens?
Va code requires them to use sirens with lights.
“…vehicles exempted in this instance will not be required to sound a siren or any device to give automatically intermittent signals.” Seems to me they aren’t required. I grew up in McLean, next to fire department, and after 10pm they would respond with lights only.
Read the rest of the code onewahoo the section you quote only applies to A.7 passing and overtaking not the other six sections.
