Curious why Babbs, Ebbs, and Howell voted against this…

A good next step for you would be to post the text of your letters to Babbs, Ebbs and Howell here along with each reply.  Otherwise, why bother with the rant?  Maybe they’d have an answer you’d accept.  You have to admit it’s a slippery slope.  Should funds be denied for shoplifting?  Speeding?  Unpaid parking tickets?  Unlicensed gun sale/purchase?   Disturbing the peace?   Unlawful protest?  You identified several scams to obtain welfare funds illicitly.  Have you turned your detective skills on white collar crime that helps put people in need of welfare in the first place?  You could do some real good focused in that direction too.

@Hal: Is that really what you think puts people on Welfare? White Collar Crime???

Get serious. Stop talking nonsense in my thread.

I’ve contacted the offices of my representatives on several issues in the past. It hasn’t been a very interactive experience. On a discussion forum, we get to have a real… discussion of the issue. That’s why this forum exists.

I say, “Why on earth would anyone oppose this?” and I get to hear back all kinds of Clown comments like, “What about Service Members receiving housing subsidies or taxpayer funded health care… why don’t they Drug Test them? Huh?!?”

Ummmm… they do. (Not going to get sidetracked on BAH and Tricare)

What about all the Welfare Queens that got scammed by Bernie Madoff?

    Ummmm… what?

Is there any reason anyone can think of as to why a sane person would vote against this?

If not, I can only conclude that Babbs, Ebbs, and Howell are against the health, safety, and prosperity of the community- and that’s a very bad thing.

Folks respond to you that way because your bum roundup diatribes are as tired and useless as steve’s smoking rants.  You could care less about a criminal who harms those less well off and steals on a massive scale but god forbid someone smoke a joint and reap some public benefit.  GFY.

Hal, like liberals like you only care about gun violence when suburban whites get killed, otherwise you ignore it. You know the DAILY shooting in the cities. The ones where people who don’t look like you get shot. Those ones.

@novasteve Gun violence has nothing to do with skin color. At least Democrats are trying to put in sane gun control laws, unforunately it’s not enough.

“Stop talking nonsense in my thread.”

I don’t think many people take you seriously anymore, Kev, but you’re gonna lose even more people with crap like this.

At the end of the day, it’s gotta come down to what do you think the result would be of denying their benefits?

If you think it would be the wake-up call they finally need to get off drugs, then you’d likely be for it.

If you think it would just force them into a life of crime where they steal their drug money instead, doesn’t that seem like a legit reason to oppose it?

(I have no strong opinions on this issue, but that’s how I’d expect the sides to shake out)

@Hal: Is that a defense of the notion that “White Collar Crime” is putting people on Welfare and getting them hooked on Drugs? It’s unfortunate that you’ve lowered yourself to using profanity in my thread… I was hoping that you would cut the nonsense and we could have a discussion.

@Steve: Start your own gun violence thread to rant about liberals. Really… you ruin everything.

@CO: That’s a complex issue, perhaps worthy of another thread.  There are still not enough facts out there to comment, but it seems like neither the drunkard climbing in the window at 3AM and going upstairs or the kinky firefighter acted 100% appropriately.

@SpongeJosh: I’m not running for office, but who am I going to “lose” by suggesting that folks living off the public dole should be certified drug free??? Once you invite drugs into a community you start a destabilizing chain reaction that leads to more severe crimes and a decline in safety and quality of life.

@Slatt: I am of the belief that those who have found a way to get paid/ get food/ get shelter for doing nothing will to to great lengths to preserve their eligibility. As far as stealing their drug money rather than having it subsidized by government payouts for their other needs? I personally have greater respect for a man who’s willing to look me in the eye and demand what’s in my wallet rather than have it thefted by some government middleman who takes his cut. It’s more efficient and more honest. I probably won’t hand it over in most circumstances, but getting back to the topic of the thread- welfare for junkies? NO WAY.

By the way, Captain, it’s nice to have you back.  Seems like you’ve been gone for a while. Now where is your boss, Major McPuppo?

haha, never was gone, just took a “break”.  I would imagine that the Major suffered the same fate as I…
