Hi all, I’m helping to plan a wedding proposal at the end of this month and I’m looking for scenic areas around Arlington/DC that have a nice scenic fall feel. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ll be taking the pictures so I want to try and capture the moment without being noticed and then take a few proposal pictures around the area. Any thoughts/suggestions would be welcomed.
I love Lubber Run Park in the fall. It is beautiful.
How ’bout Great Falls, Roosevelt Island, somewhere along the C & O Canal, Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Rock Creek park?
I proposed to my old lady at Great Falls. A park ranger walked through while I was getting down on one knee.
“A park ranger walked through while I was getting down on one knee.”
Happened to me, too. We were given a warning.
Second the Green Springs Garden suggestion. There is a nice gazebo area between the two ponds and many other scenic areas that offer a lot of privacy at times.
My wedding photos were taken at The Iwo Jima/Carillon Memorial. If you line it up right, you can get the Washington Monument and river in the back ground
Not entirely Arlington related, but on my walk back to Arlington from Eastern Market, I saw a couple taking what looked like proposal/engagement photos on the southwest lawn of the Capitol grounds.
What did the ranger say?
I’ll have what he’s having.
Of course there is always the Pug Proposal. She cannot possibly resist 16 pugs with heart shaped balloons tied to their collars!

the (presumptive) groom has outsourced the planning for his marriage proposal? how romantic!
Hi all. Thanks so much for the great suggestions. The groom-to-be didn’t really outsource the proposal plans to me but he wanted me to look for places to take pictures after the fact. He has his own idea for the actual proposal part of it. Youtube video to come later this month!
You always have the national arboretum. The original columns from the capital are cool and very Fall Out 3
