I’m trying to find a decent place to get my hair cut. I am kind of intimidated by the hair salons in North Arlington (well, mostly intimidated by their prices) so I have been getting intermittent trims at discount chains/local barbershops since I moved here a few years ago. However, I think it’s time to grow up and get an actual hairstyle, and I’m not sure I want to trust the Hair Cuttery with that. Does anyone have recommendations for reasonably priced hair salons on/near the Orange Line corridor? Thanks in advance.
What do you consider “reasonably priced”? And do you have access to a car?
I’ve been going to Salon Daniel in McLean for years and can’t say enough good things about them. A trim and partial highlights will run you about $200 or thereabouts. That may be a higher price level than you were looking for, but if you decide you want to take the plunge and invest in a grownup hairstyle, I highly recommend them.
I have been going to Anne Welsh Salon in Del Ray Alexandria for 12 years. I highly recommend them. A cut is around $65-. Depending on who does your hair it could be a little more or less. They are walking distance to the Braddock Road Metro. So, while not on the orange line, they are Metro accessible.
Try the Jon David Salon on 1800 Wilson Blvd. across from shopping center of Ray’s Hell Burger/coffee shop. Close to either Courthouse metro or Rosslyn. Their cuts are 37-53 and up. Highly recommended from a former cheapskate:)
Miracles in Rosslyn.

I’ve been going to Voula (sp?) for about 5 years now. I also have numerous friends who go there and use their other stylists. For a nice salon, they are affordable ($49 women, $29 men), and I’ve had nothing but great experiences there.
