High School Boundary Changes

I keep hearing rumors about the school board moving the Wakefield/WL boundary from Route 50 to Wilson Blvd to reduce the crowding at WL.  If true, this would potentially impact Boulevard Manor, Bluemont, Ashton Heights and Lyon Park.  The impacts on these neighborhoods would be huge!

I have also heard rumors about moving the IB program from WL to Wakefield.

Does anyone have any substantiated information regarding high school boundary changes?  Anyone actually talk to the school board members?

Well if this happened, it would most likely leave Wakefield overcrowded and W-L practically empty. I’d say a strong 40 – 60% of W-L students live between the Wilson and Arlington Boulevards. I don’t think the county board could ever pull off such a thing.

I don’t have info on boundary changes, but the IB program changing from WL to Wakefield makes sense… the elementary IB program is at Randolph, and the middle school IB program is at Jefferson.  So, it makes a bit more sense for the high school IB program to be at Wakefield.
