After enduring an almost 2 hour round trip drive to Baileys Crossroads from Lee Hwy , I'm thinking maybe we could help each other out as internet gets back on line. Hurry – Verizon FIOS is back in my neighborhood.
La Union on Old lee hwy is open.
Does anyone know if Target on on Rt 50 at 7 corners has power and is open?

I drove through the intersection there around 11am and the power was out at the intersection as were several intersections before (to the east of) it on 50, as well it appeared that the home depot and Starbucks were shuttered. So, my money is on no.
thx. The areas around REI and Burlington Coat Factory were also without power around noon.
Cars were lined up on roadways to get into gas stations on Columbia Pike.
Even if places are open, they might not take debit or credit cards. I was trying to buy ice at 7-11 and some of them were cash only, now just about every place is out of ice. More storms expected tonight.

This is the case at the Lee/Spout Run Starbucks, burger place, and I think Italian Store. They have power but no phone service, cash only. I think Giant is ok.

That Giant was cash/debit only when I was there this morning.
CVS is open at Court House and is taking plastic.
When I was up there (2 hours ago) the Court House Metro station was closed because there was no power. There were shuttle buses set up between Clarendon and Rosslyn.
DeThe home depot in 7 corners was open and taking cards, but just backup lighting. The Target and almost everything else looked closed. The police had set up no left turn barricades. Everything in Clarendon is still dark, though my house behind Market Commons got power an hour ago.
does anyone know if the Carlyle Grand in Shirlington is open?
Potomac Yard area has power, Shoppers Food Warehouse has a cafe seating are with outlets along one wall for charging phones
On twitter it was reported everything but HT is closed over in Shirlington
Harris Teeter on Glebe (Hyde Park) is open and taking credit cards. It also has ice and cold beer
I was just out and Clarendon is a traffic disaster. The super awkward intersection has no lights working, so no one knows what to do. Others are still blinking, and still no one knows what to do. To top it off, there are massive lines at the Hess on Wilson and Fairfax, and it is backing up into Wilson Blvd. Most things seem to be open around here though.
Anyone know if the power is back on by north Harrison and Williamsburg?
Most of Crystal City/Pentagon City and Potomac Yards shopping areas are fine.
Target on Rte. 7 was open yesterday but cash only, I think. Safeway there was closed. I heard the Safeway at Bailey's and the shops there were open. Harris Teeter at Lee-Harrison was open but no meat milk or cheese for sale (or ice cream or ice, of course.)
