Anyone else enjoying the melodic sounds of jackhammers near the corner of 11th and Filmore this morning? Or am I the lightest sleeper in Clarendon? Aren’t there certain hours any sort of construction can take place without it being considered a noise ordinance violation?
Sorry breh – had to take the Miss to poundtown.

Must be an emergency. Otherwise, the county would never allow it.
To follow up on what newty said, there are Washington Gas crews out there. So of course I’m guessing it was emergency maintenance and when it’s a gas line they don’t mess around. The need to stop or prevent a leak would trump any regulations regarding construction noise.
Smelled gas over there the other day, just across from Green Pig.
Didn’t care.

Gas leaks and jackhammering together in same place doesn’t seem like a good thing to me.
so how would you get down to the pipe?
you just lost yer membership in the “ARLnow.com readers are some of the sharpest thinkers in the county” club!
you do realize, they turn off the gas b4 they start digging, right?
Johnny b, c’mon, you’re not actually that dense?
Perhaps you should re-read what I wrote and then realize that you’re using my post like a drunk uses a lightpost, for support rather than illumination.
I heard them. I was like WTF?! But I have been smelling gas in the area lately.
When you hear jackhammers at 1:30 AM it’s pretty safe to assume there’s something seriously urgent that needs fixed. Would you rather get woken up by that, or blown out of your pajamas by a gas explosion?

The latter would certainly make for more entertaining news for the rest of us.
Lizert13, quit being a cry baby. News flash, the world out side doesn’t stop when you decide to robe up on your suggie and lay in bed.
