“The Declaration of Independence affirms that “all men are created equal” and that every American has a right to “the pursuit of happiness.” These principles cannot be fulfilled without the ability to marry the person you love.”
First, the Declaration of independence isn’t a legal document. If everyone got to “pursue happiness” as a right, then I guess we’d have to legalize a lot of things, including serial killing, pedophelia, etc..
Oh, does Jim Moran now support incestuos marriage? They do love each other. or does he support denying them toe right to marry despite the words he used? Does he support polygamy too? They shouldn’t be able to marry the people they love?
Don’t do it Razbo.
NS, your tagline is basically “Come to the light Carol Anne”.
Are you going to look at his words? “These principles cannot be fulfilled without the ability to marry the person you love” and then in the next breath state that banning incestuous marriage, despite them loving each other, is cool? Or areyou just going to pretend that’s not the case? What will you do to avoid the hypocrisy?
Also, if Jim Moran and you guys don’t support polygamy, does that mean you hate mormons and are islamophobes?
What happened to marriage equality if you believe the government can prevent consenting adults from marrying each other?
Who are “y0u guys?” I’m okay with polygamy. But I don’t think you can make a direct analogy between same-sex marriage and multiple-spouse marriage.
@NS, Gosh, I would never have the audacity to speak for Representative Moran, or attempt to answer your off the wall questions on his behalf. Considering that he was speaking to the Supreme Court rulings, I take his comments in that context. Feel free to extrapolate into the realm of the absurd, as that seems to be your forte.
But, if it makes you feel any better, I just got off the phone with Rep Moran and confirmed that, yes, he believes in the rights of pedophiles, polygamists, serial killers, homeless, and internet trolls to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
NS, these discussions have happened many times on this board, so not sure if you’re looking for something different. Your other favorite messageboard has plenty of topics on this as well.
on second thought, I’ll come to the light. What do you think of the SCOTUS decision today? A real answer, one with statements, not questions. I’m done with you if you ask 1 question in your response to my question.
@esmith is right…its the homophobes who use the incest and polygamy arguments about gay marriage to try to hide their own bigotry. Its called projection.
Please go read up on the health consequences (hint: genetic inbreeding) of incest if you don’t understand why it has been outlawed by probably every jurisdiction in the world.
And then, with that knowledge, maybe you can stop using incest as an example of why you think gay marriage should not be allowed.
I’m down with incest, but then my sister and I use birth control.
Slim Jim is a brand of jerky snacks or dried sausage manufactured by ConAgra Foods, Inc., the food conglomerate based in Omaha. They are popular in the United States. More than 500 million are produced annually in at least 20 varieties. The Slim Jim itself has been transformed in the years since Adolph Levis invented it in 1928. He later sold the company in 1967 for about 20 million dollars to General Mills, who moved the operations to Raleigh, N.C., and merged them into other meatpacking operations that it renamed Goodmark Foods. It sold Goodmark in 1982 to a group led by Ron Doggett. ConAgra bought Goodmark in 1998.
Question: Why doesn’t West VA High Schools have Driver’s Ed classes on Friday?
Answer: Because on Fridays the cars are used for Sex Ed. (da-dum!)
So should all groups with genetic risks be not allowed to marry? Should I not be allowed to marry another person of my religion or even a french candian due to the risk of taysachs?
Also Moran didn’t bring up genetic risks, he just said “LOVE”. So do you support not support the right of all consenting adults to marry the person they love? Also since kids aren’t an issue for gay incestuous couples, how do you justify throwing a gay incestuos couple in jail for getting married? Are gays thrown in jail for getting married where it isn’t legal? Seems to me that when they went to the clerk to get married and the clerk at courthouse said sorry, can’t marry you, did htey have the police waiting to arrest them like they would have for incestuous couples?
Why is it that when you buy a product, take it home, and remove it and its packaging from the box, that you can never get the product and all of the packaging back into the box? Instead of studying relativity and other such things, i think we should get our country’s top scientists working on this important mystery.
I figured you’d want to change the subject rather than deal with the consequences of Moran’s statement. You can’t admit that the next step is incest unless he changes what he said. Unless you can argue they aren’t consenting adults that love each other.
