Not sure who else knew or had pleasant encounters with Mr. Hash, but here is his obit:

This guy was such a sweetheart. I used to run into him pretty regularly along Wilson near Galaxy Hut or so. Always had a kind word. I can remember one of our first outings with our new baby. I was a bit nervous as you might imagine and here’s this guy in a limo driver outfit who stops to talk to my stroller bound kid. After a few pleasantries, he looks me square in the eye and says “I am glad he’s yours.” One of those beautiful moments where you feel like the Earth stood still for a second. Never knew his name til this evening when I just caught his obituary. I am sorry I won’t see him again.

Never met him, but seems like a real character, in the best of ways.

I never knew his name but ran into him many times while walking my dog or at Java Shack. He was always with a kind word and something interesting to say.

NO WAY seriously? Aw, man, this makes me sad. I loved that guy.

This is very sad news. Thank you for sharing it.

Jim was a very warm and caring person and he always had nice words when you met him on the street. We will miss him.

I always wondered about him, and now he’s gone. Unfortunate.
