My Twenty Day Journey

Dezlboy—You’ve been on this site many hours each day? Geez, you do need a break. Go walk your cute dog a little more. He’ll appreciate it. :-) But don’t go away completely, you are a fun read after all.

@Sunshine: I did stay away for two days!  (and they weren’t weekends!).  I hope people take this thread seriously, but not too seriously. (if that makes sense?). I’ve had a lot of free time lately (forever, nah?). But, that will end pretty soon due to certain obligations. Maybe I should take up knitting?

Knitting? That’s a great idea. Go yarn-bomb something!

I’m in.  I have made multiple attempts to steer the threads from name-calling to the original topic.

I suggest that when ad hominem, personal attacks start, we all ignore them.  I know it will be hard.  Remember, gadflies are powered by attention.  Engaging them energizes them.  Nothing demoralizes them more than being ignored.

@ nom de guerre: This is in reply to the Confderate [sic] flag thread.

You asked me to explain my statement, "I will be refraining from responding to any and all of your (TUN) postings until 15 October 2013.” (and also mentioned “the others” who agreed.) I’ll address the issue from my point of view, and let the others chime in if so desire.

Maybe the issue is “threads” versus “posts”?  While I have posted in threads started by TUN, I have not (AFAIK) responded to any of his posts.  If someone else in a TUN started thread responds and posts a reasonable comment that does not directly relate to TUN subject or question, and more importantly does not respond his trolling methods (personal attacks, broad generalization, stereotyping, bigoted statements, etc), I might respond to that poster  if the discussion has been steered to some reasonableness. But I don’t respond to the TUN comments or questions, or further the discussion of TUN’s trolling. In this manner, I believe I am essentially ignoring TUN. And hopefully changing his posting patterns or his posting period.

Also, as in the Confderate [sic] battle flag thread, the first responder took the thread off of TUN’s topic and essentially made it into a joke. I responded to the joke with another joke, completely unrelated to TUN’s post.

In other words, I am not responding to “any and all” of TUN’s posts.  I would claim that I am not responding to any of his posts.   Now, if you and others feel that those working to improve the board think that refraining from posting anything in threads started by (or entered into by TUN), we can discuss. I’m flexible, as we all (almost all) share the same goals.

In short, you lack any semblance of self control and your promises are meaningless. yiu and your friends stay out of any topic I start.

On the contrary, I welcome the comments, find them exceptionally helpful:P

@dezlboy-I would submit that “any and all” means that you will refrain from commenting to him directly and/or post any comments  in any topic that he starts.

It appears to me that you chose option- B) Ignore this, deny reality, change the subject and/or troll on?

    Good luck on your journey.

@nom de guerre wrote, something like (cause I can’t remember what you said exactly, and i am in edit more) “I would submit that “any and all” means you will refrain from commenting to him directly and/or post any comments in any topic that he starts.”

That does sound like the best option. Much appreciated. Do I have to start the count down at 20 again? ;-)

Yes. You have to start the countdown again. Imo……

Bump.  I suggest keeping this going 20 days past the end of the shutdown.  Keep the thread closures coming, nom de guerre.
