I’m on the fence. I think I liked the old version more.
I’m not a fan of the new forum layout at all…it looks like one grey, drab, soviet style layout with no clearly defined distinction between threads/responses. The rest of the site is ok though.
I try to be open to change but I have to agree. This new design is just too hard on the eyes – too much contrast, too many sharp lines, and the visually distracting image bracketing the main content pane.
Looks like you can’t give someone a “thunbs up/down” anymore too. How am I going to properly express myself without that? How can I judge my own popularity? Shocking turn of events, indeed!
I rather like it and think they put a fair amount effort in to the redesign. My only suggestion is that the back ground “skyscraper” picture is some what graphic intensive and will be slow to load on netbooks and older PC’s. I think the mobile site is even better and is very easy to use. I just hope that some sub-forums get started.
where is my avatar!!!!! no!!! do not want to use site without the ability to have an animated .gif as my avatar. which i y i don’t like facebook much.
also had to recreate account w/ different email address becayse i forgot my password & it’s not sending it to me…? dangit
i do like the new look tho. just think the background should be more faded, thats all. and would be cool if there was an app. because accessing websites via computer is something i do only at work lol.
you also can’t tell when there are new posts. The old site would highlight unread posts as red.
yeah but now comments have a number!!! so we can start replies as “dear captain obvious, in response to comment #59240, …” that would be cool huh
o wow, replies aren’t staggered based on hierarchy and original comment is not included in reply… this is not great
awesome, I really like your comment #59238. What you said there is so true.
Definitely don’t like the layout.
The font change is refreshing.
I like the bigger avatars here in the forum.
To summarize (and to test images):
