Open air drug market in North Arlington: Police do nothing
  • fromthehill June 18, 2013 - 2:10 pm #77085 Reply

Did you know that there is an open air drug market right in the heart of North Arlington? Yes, amongst the million dollar McMansions and swaths of 3 series BMWs you can readily obtain almost any illegal substance. This little corner of our fair county is located directly across from the beautifully renovated High View Park,  at the intersection of N. 20th and Dinwiddie Sts. Drug transactions occur with great frequency at all hours of the day. The purveyors of these illegal items loiter in the streets, openly drinking alcoholic beverages and selling drugs. My 16 year old neighbor was recently solicited and he said the drug de jour is PCP aka Angel Dust. Does Angel Dust really belong in our vibrant community? Should we consider it another amenity of our great urban village?

So you may be asking yourself, why are you telling the readers of ARLnow, go talk to the police? And I will say in response, I have, we have, neighbor after neighbor. Call after call to APD. Yet the problem continues day and night. One officer even told my neighbor that there is really nothing they can do about it. If the police aren’t willing to act, who will?

So I ask you, is this common place? Does Donaldson Run have a drug market? Is Cherrydale the place for Oxys? Is Bluemont where it’s at for Meth? Then why does High View Park have the market cornered on PCP and the like? And why, why! won’t APD do a damn thing to stop it?

    Thoughts?

We’re generally not fans of people who create accounts solely to post ads for their businesses here on the forums.

But in this case, thanks for the tip. Hopefully your prices are decent.

I’m sure PCP would be good for before dental procedures.

You chose some good codewords in your last paragraph-menu. Sounds like you have the keen sense and local knowledge to make it far in this business, I wish the best of luck to you. One thought: your offerings seem a bit…. “downmarket” more fit for Columbia Pike. If you are going to make it in 22207 you’ll have to move into more upmarket goods.

Tell them you saw a car without a front license plate in front of High View Park and they will respond as if it was murder.

Yes. There is a drug market, it’s called Yorktown High School’s locker room.

What goods do you sell btw?

On another note, there’s an underground black market in Madison Manor.

    Two observations:

Oh, NORTH Arlington? The horror! If it were South Arlington, it would be perfectly normal, right?

This is just a couple blocks from a county substance abuse treatment center. LOL.

There’s a farmer’s market in Clarendon, Ballston and Westover.

    @fromthehill,

I suggest contacting the president of your community association and discuss. They can work with your police contact (each Police District has one).  The police may be working on this issue, in spite of individual policeman’s actions.

Perhaps you could start a petition to rename the park.

“High View” sounds like it  already is the perfect fit…

Thanks dezlboy. We have brought it to the attention of the civic association. They have also discussed the issue with APD. I should have mentioned it in my original post. Thanks for offering some constructive advice, it is appreciated.

@fromthehill, good luck. It’s frustrating when these things linger on.  Your neighborhood could have residents drive by periodically and take be seen taking photos, just to discourage the trafficers? Maia team each night walk that area with yellow vests. If in mass, that may move the undesirables to ……….South Arlington.   :-)

BTW, what government agency would your report an illegal home business to?
