The place is a virtual ghost town – like every single day and every single weekend. Over under on it closing within the year? Thoughts?
Summers does a good business. It’s a go-to spot for rugby matches being on live etc.
Summers has 100 times the crowd on a weekend that P Brennans does across an entire month. I think this place is going under – fast.
It’s completely dead on weeknights or even fridays. It only gets people for speciality events.
Never been there. isn’t that the “upscale” irish bar with even more expensive drinks than usual for the area? perhaps they need for the streetcar to be built so they can shuttle in people with more money?
P. Brennan’s has its smoking nook right at the front door, so customers have to pass through cig smoke to go in.
I can imagine people go to Lost Dog instead at least i do. once the streetcar is in things will look up for Brennans
Fortunately it’s located in the country and cars are not allowed within 1000 feet, so they didn’t have to breath auto exhaust on their way in too.
P Brenans has the best fish-n-chips around. I tried Eammon’s and the fish was the worst I’ve ever had. That being said, I can’t eat fish-n-chips more than once in a while or I’ll blow up like a balloon. Unfortunately, P Brennans is not conducive to socializing because its like a cavern and is not what we were hoping for in a cozy, get to know your neighbors kind of pub. Maybe it will hang in there until the new apartments go up. The staff has always been super nice. I wish it luck in hanging in there.
I agree, the food is decent. With that being said, it is a massive place that really does not yield more than 50 people in the place at one time. It has to be close to 4,000 sq feet inside. How are they not losing money hand over fist? And, for how long can a cash business carry that weight? Eammon’s is simply riding a trend wave and is going to get smoked.
Haven’t been to P Brennan’s since a few months after it opened, but looking inside it looks like they have remodeled a little near the bar area – looks more Irish pub-like. When it first opened, I didn’t give it a year. Apparently many people go there on Sunday’s for football. Eammons has been virtually empty after it’s first months of being open. I do recommend the Hangover Burger, but not the $15 drinks at the TNT Bar.
P Brennans suffers from an unfortunate room. Yes, their fish-n-chips is absolutely the best in 3 states. What was Eamon’s thinking moving in nearby? Most of their food is really good, their staff is good, their drink and beer selection good- but the DJ on saturdays clears the place out. I like them, though- what can we do to help?
^^ ARLnow cash mob?
Fado in Chinatown is dark and cavernous, maybe it’s a Irish bar thing?
I went last week after reading this to give them some business. It wasn’t dead but not packed. I heard skeeball while I was having a drink and for the frist time went up stairs. I had no idea they had some games, shuffleboard and skeeball upstairs. Not a big bar gamer but enjoy some shuffleboard from time to time.
Best way to help out a local bar is to go have some drinks.
