@nom de guerre: your point is well taken. Although I have for the last several weeks attempted to moderate the tone of my responses to NS, nevertheless my responses to NS clearly indicate a lack of self control. Your well intended slap to the face is appreciated.

You–among others–are as much of a problem as N-Steve. You feeders are why many of the more reasonable people have left the forums. Scott would be better off removing the forum and letting people argue in comments instead. At least there he can ban people, even if that only inconveniences the troublemakers.
@Swag: Lesson (hopefully) learned. I appreciate the feedback, advice, etc. It’s not my intention to screw up the forums, but if my actions are in fact doing that, I need to alter my behavior. Absolutely.
Point taken nom and swag. Problem is, someone will always respond to him…he’s actually a really effective troll. But you can’t blame other posters here…its 100% NS.
And therein lies the real problem. He breaks the forum rules here everyday and has never been banned…I wonder why? I’ve seen plenty of other posters get banned from the forum for far less. Even if we all never respond to him again, someone else will and as a result, the forum will continue to suffer.

Ok, now I’m pretty sure you’re an N-Steve alt.
@Swag: I really hope you’re kidding that you think I am NS under a different user-id.
@C_O: Fully understand your point that others will reply. But, I’ve been way too responsive to his wackiness. He enjoys it. He bugs me. He enjoys it. He bugs me. He enjoys it. There’s a lesson to be learned here.
There is. Buy my question still stands…Why has he not been banned when plenty of others have been for far less?…That’s all I’m saying.
The very nature of NS’s provoking one-line headlines means there will ALWAYS be someone who’s going to respond to him. Also, not everyone is following this saga and so may not be aware that he does need to just be ignored.
Unless you put a notice in big bold letters at the top of the main forum page telling people to ignore all posts from him, there’s always going to be someone that takes his bait.
I will try to do my part to ignore him in the future.

Actually, I thought you were doing a great job of doing that as your infrequent replies were on the mark, and while addressed the issue still remained above the fray.
This reminds me of parents talking about exactly how to deal with a child’s misbehavior. Which is pretty much accurate.
Why has he not been banned when plenty of others have been for far less
He’s almost become a sort of circus act here. I am sure plenty of traffic is here just to see what kind of craziness he’s going to come up with each day. In terms of pure entertainment, that is far more valuable than the boring day-to-day issues that regular Arlingtonians are wishing to discuss here.
But on the other hand, if ARLnow were to become, say, THE place online where citizens went to talk about community issues in a logical and constructive manner, that virtue by itself might increase site traffic too.
@esmith69. Hopefully, I am not over-posting on this thread, but as one of the “so called” offenders, I wanted to concur with your observation that Arlnow forum should be about community issues, and not a political discussion board. Although discussion of local politics is appropriate, there should be a limit as to what is local, and what is “let’s hash out every policy and issue in the whole USA.” The only way to achieve that may be to, as many suggested, simply refrain from taking part in such over-the top discussions.
I once took an on-line class where discussions of this sort were supposed to happen as part of class participation. One professor limited responses to 100 words. Something I should also keep in mind.
Finally (whew!) I appreciate your participation, your shared frustration, and your helpful “wake up, idiot!” advice to me.
“Sunshine, I predict you have seen (read?) the last of NS on this board.”
But I must know how the crockpot Pho turned out! And who will I talk to about bags of bread?
It’s a slow rainy Saturday, perfect for a short video
