POOL in Arlington Area
  • MC May 27, 2012 - 3:26 pm #50012 Reply

I live at the Market Common and we unfortunately dont have a pool — with this weather here in the DC area, I wish we would have found an apartment with access to a pool!

Does anyone know of a place nearby?  Community pool, apartment pool that I can sneak into?  Anything?  I found Upton Regional but it looks very family oriented (water park) and I am looking for more of a relaxing atmosphere – although I would go there in a pinch if I had to!

    Any ideas? Cool

Arlington high schools have among the best pools in the area.  See http://www.arlingtonva.us/departments/ParksRecreation/scripts/pools/Pools.aspx for details.Cool

There is a public pool off Wilson blvd, with batting cages and mini golf.

    That's Upton Hill.

When I lived in Station Square we had people sneaking in all the time.  It's a small pool so I'm not sure if they've tightened up on things as of late.  Most of the pools outside of the Orange line area are going to be very family focused and it doesn't sound like that's what you're looking for.  I would look at hotels with open hours; the Capitol Skyline hotel in DC has a huge deck area around its pool and may be more in line with what you want.

If you haven't actually been to Upton Hill, you may not be aware that there's an adult pool there, entirely separate from the family pools. It's mostly laned for swimming laps, but there's a section for just hanging out. That might work for you.

They may have tightened things up. You have to sign in with your name/unit number, but I don't think the attendants actually look to see if you made anything up. Only problem (for some) is since it isn't rooftop and it's set into a “U” of a building, it doesn't get a ton of sun.
