I was walking around this morning and noticed something about a bier garden outside of velocity 5…seem they have plans to re-purpose themselves. I’m not giving my hopes up, seeing as it doesn’t seem to be all that great of a place, but if executed correctly, this would be an awesome location for a biergarten. Anyone have any further details? They seem to have a relatively generic looking website with stock photos and little information: http://arlingtonsocialhaus.com/
Their last tweet was November 2012, and the website was clearly created from a template.
The domain is registered to Pars Listing out of Tysons Corner.
$50 bucks says it won’t be authentic, but more of a “party bar” with a “bier garten.”
Where outside of it? You mean their outdoor area? Or part of the public area that was recently renovated? I can take a look after work.
You are correct, a bier garten is coming to the old (but still current) Velocity5 space. A friend from high school has purchased Velocity5 from it’s current owners and is in the process of turning it into Social House, which will focus heavily on beers and is going for a bier garten theme.
They’ve spent a fair amount of time selecting beers and the name and decor of the venue should be changing soon. It’s in a transitional period currently.
This is some of the best news I have read in a long time. Velocity 5 is a disgusting pit.
I really hope your friend knows that Guinness is never to be served in a plastic cup. Please tell me they are going to burn everything V5-related. It’s the only sure way to get rid of the gum stuck to the cups which are often served to patrons.
will you be able to smoke outside there like you can currently?
Awesome news…are they going for the full-on german beers and food, or just an American interpretation? When will we see changes? I, for one, can’t wait to stop by for a beer once they’ve finished!
I don’t want to steal the owners thunder, so I’d suggest following their Facebook page for updates on drinks/food and roll-out time
I’m sure the apartments behind there are really going to love the noise now. That being said, I look forward to seeing how this turns out, since I don’t live in said apartments.
As someone who lives in the neighborhood (but not in the adjacent building) I’m pretty fired up about this. I can’t believe Atrocity 5 hung around for as long as it did. I just hope the V5 staff and clientele don’t transition into the new place, though I’ve got a nagging suspicion they will.
